'Your mind is playing tricks on you, my dear.' ~Of Monsters And Men

~Godpheus~

Cain screeched in sudden pain, before her eyes glazed over and she collapsed to the ground in a fit of shudders. Godpheus, who'd been studying Axel closely at the time actually jumped on the spot, before straightening himself up and fixing up the now draping lab coat which sat like a blanket on the bony shoulders of his morphed body. He let out a quick sigh, his brain still flicking through the list of Exodus Jesus's new mutations, that had occurred after he'd been humanised for the second time. The telekinesis and shape shifting had come fairly easily, but a third ability flittered around in the depths of his brain in a strangely fuzzy haze, as if it didn't want to reveal itself. And for that moment, Godpheus forgot about Cain completely and frowned in confusion.

He changed his appearance back to that of his old self, first, feeling the cold flow of energy channel deep into his body with the exertion of Jesus's new power. He concentrated harder on revealing the final power, to no avail. The scientist gritted his teeth. The other two had entered his brain spread out on a silver platter, so to speak. He'd been able to master them both without a second thought. But the third was shrouded in darkness, as though blocked from his use. He could feel its presence there in his brain, but... the power wouldn't activate.

Flustered, Godpheus bent down beside Cain's still writhing body, forcing his mind to focus itself on the more urgent matter at hand. Axel stood rooted to the stop beside him as his dose of sodium kryptoxide fully entrapped his consciousness. Godpheus knew that when he awoke from his transformation, the human would be nothing more than a brainless slave, just as he should have been all along. But his thoughts weren't really to do with Axel, either. In fact, the beaten human held absolutely no space in his muddled brain at that point.

His attention was held directly on Cain.

Because this was no coincidence that she'd collapsed.

"Fight all you want, Miss Cain, but it's Laquania's last stand." He cooed, a smile forming at the corners of his mouth. "And I'm afraid you're not human enough to survive, anymore." He leaned forward and raised one of her eyelids, actually surprised to find that a thin film of glowing perinal rexodus liquid had settled over her human eyes. It dribbled down her cheeks as it was released, the sticky liquid staining his fingers.

Are you?

Godpheus retracted his hand. The voice rang clearly in his head, like bells in the wind. It was weak and unfamiliar, but definitely there. The scientist shrugged it off hastily as he continued to examine Exodus Cain. After all, it had to have been a hallucination, right?

"Nghhhh!" Cain grunted, her eyes tightly closed now and leaking the glowing liquid of perinal rexodus. He pinched her cheeks between a hand and tugged her face towards him, studying her once more. She was gasping loudly, her mouth twisted into a hard line. He could feel her trying to shake her head out of his grip, but Godpheus held her jaw firm. A trail of spittle oozed from the corner of her crusted lips. Gooey perinal rexodus was pooling around his fingers like glowing white/blue syrup. But he barely noticed any of that. What he did notice was the thin red lines that were beginning to cut into the skin around her eyes.
