'I am with you and will keep you wherever you go.' ~Genesis 28:15

~Colton~

No sooner has the scream left Malroy's mouth when I feel my owner's t shirt covered shoulder shudder beneath me. Raindrops seep through the cracks in the old roof of the shed, splattering our heads. I let out a slight yelp as a basketball sized droplet hits me on the top of my head, soaking through my shirt. The water fizzles strangely as it makes contact with my skin and for a second I think I'm going to get electrocuted when Ben too lets out a frightened yell.

"E-E-Easy there, tiger." Blaine mumbles worriedly, trying to both clutch his ears in pain and stay balanced atop Ben's shoulder at the same time. Even River doesn't let out a rash remark, as he'd usually do. I feel myself beginning to shiver as I cling to the thick material of my owner's clothing, the ice cold rainwater tickling my skin. I grit my teeth as another giant raindrop splatters the bare skin beside the collar of Ben's shirt, feeling tiny droplets splatter my face. I don't even notice though, because something entirely unexpected occurs next, distracting me to the point where I almost fall of Ben's shoulder in shock.

Just like it had done on contact with my skin, the patch of water dribbling down my owner's back begins to fizzle and pop. The liquid glows a faint blue for a moment before it's absorbed into thin air. It's almost as if the water had been sucked into nothingness. Of course, my silly human brain had no idea whether or not this was normal for rain, but a part of me screamed relentlessly that this wasn't right.

I guess my conscience does know Mother Nature pretty well then, because what happens next is almost as unexpected as before.

"B-B-Ben?" Malroy whimpers, her own giant body shuddering. I gasp as her opaque eyes flicker, losing their glow for a moment before snapping on again like a torch. She blinks and the faint outline of an iris appears behind the milky white almond shapes. "Wh-wh-what's happening to us?"

"Malroy?!" Charlene says, looking equally freaked. She tries to stroke her short black hair soothingly, but lets out a yelp as the laquanian girl shakes violently, throwing her off her perch on her shoulder. I watch helplessly as Charlene, probably my only real human ally in this equation flies into open air, arms windmilling around wildly before hitting the forest floor with a soft grunt. She doesn't get up.

"Charlene!" Blaine squeals, actually looking like he's going to jump after her like a knight in shining armour. Unfortunately for him, he's in the same boat as all of us humans, and that's trying to stay balanced on Ben's shoulders before we wind up just like poor Charlene. Instead, he throws a sharp punch at the side of my owner's neck to get his attention. "Ben, you've gotta help Charlene. She's hurt!"

Whatever world Ben's brain is currently in, it's not this one. All Blaine gets in response is a muffled groan. The shoulder beneath me bucks upwards as he shudders, causing me to fling into open air for a second. Frantically, I tighten my hold on Ben's shirt and crash face first back down onto his soft flesh. I can feel his giant bones tensing underneath the material.

"Ben!" Malroy shouts again, the amplitude sending daggers into my human ears. I manage to blot out the pain and focus on keeping a firm grip on Ben's shirt, wishing with all my heart that this ordeal would soon be over. It makes no sense; the fizzling raindrops, the shaking and screaming, the storm and the beam of light...
