"Where should we head for lunch, kids?"
Bow pulled up a local restaurant's Instagram profile, passing it around the car. Micah was driving theirs while Angella drove the other, the teenagers spread amongst them. Adora scrolled through the restaurant's feed, nothing really appealing to her but she couldn't be bothered searching for another place.
"Good enough," she passed it back to Bow, who nodded.
"Are you sending it to Glimmer?"
Adora was nervous about Glimmer, Catra and Angella being locked up in a car for half an hour, but it wasn't her place to express that. Though Glimmer and Catra appeared to be on somewhat good terms, she didn't really know what would happen when Angella was thrown into the already dangerous mix.
Adora looked over nervously to Bow as they arrived at the restaurant, anxiously waiting for Angella's car to pull over behind them.
"Do you think they'll be fine? What if they're not fine? What if-"
"Adora, chill. They've lived together for years, although that was when they didn't really talk to each other...." Bow trailed off, doing nothing to ease Adora's nerves as the girls stepped out of the car.
"Why do you look like you're not on a holiday right now?" Glimmer raised an eyebrow at her, making Adora plaster on a synthetic smile and wave her arms.
"Me? Anxious? Nooo, why would I be anxious?"
Glimmer nodded slowly, very obviously in disbelief at Adora's antics.
"Right, well are you going to go inside, or are we going to feed these people more photos?"
Glimmer's eyes shifted over to the crowd dining outside, all of which instantly turned back to their meals when she looked.
"Do we have a reservation?" Catra asked Bow the question, looking over at his phone.
"Duh."
Bow waved them to come inside, flashing his screen at the restaurant manager who led them to a small table.
"Well, what are you guys feeling?"
Angella rested her chin atop her hands, eyes passing over all of their faces.
"I wouldn't mind the soup. Good for cold weather."
Adora typed it out on her phone, everyone going around and requesting specific dishes. She also ordered some snacks for them to share; bread rolls and other appetizers.
"Did you enjoy skiing?"
Adora realized she actually hadn't seen the supervising parents the entire time they were there, about to ask them 'why' when Catra beat her to it.
"If you were around us, you might've known."
Angella frowned at the tone as Adora shifted in her seat. Why did family fights always break out at dinner.
"Tone, Catra. We're in public. Last thing we need is another headline like last time." Angella pointedly looked over at Glimmer, who conveniently avoided eye contact.
"We don't have the paparazzi around here. Just nosey people wondering if we are who they think we are."
"Still. I have enough to deal with, and this trip is meant to be relaxing for all of us."
Catra and Glimmer silently huffed in their respective seats, but cooled it at Angella's warning gaze. Adora glanced back down at the buzz of her phone, wondering why Shadow Weaver was being so persistent. She pursed her lips at it, knowing it would be rude to take the call while with the whole family. She quickly clicked the side of her phone, turning it off until she was ready to face her adoptive mother.
