"You two want to do an exchange? In the middle of the year?"
Adora nodded vigorously with Catra as Angella scanned the two of them with assessing eyes.
"What are you up to now?"
"Nothing, Mom. We just want to experience life at another prestigious boarding school."
Angella raised an eyebrow, about to comment something when Prime interrupted her.
"I think it's a splendid idea."
He clasped his hands on the table, a grin opening on his long face.
"I would prefer-"
"Nonsense Ms Brightmoon. The two girls will be leaving with my school the moment the games are done, we'll organize the paperwork right now."
Adora was becoming a bit concerned with how eager Prime was, pulling out a laptop from his briefcase to print out the documents.
"Don't worry, we'll be back in time for next semester. It's just an exchange."
Angella was silent but held eye contact with Catra, as if trying to figure out what the two of them were planning. But Adora and Catra stayed perfectly stoic, having agreed not to even look at each other during the meeting. Angella could sniff out lies like a dog, they weren't risking anything.
"I suppose if Horace approves."
She turned to him, Adora noting the glance that held distaste. She felt a bit bad, knowing Angella was resentful with letting them go to his school, but it seemed to be the only viable option. Go to the madhouse, get evidence of what happens in the madhouse, report the madman, and come back safe...Can't be too hard, right?
"Oh wait, hold on. Your records list a number of Brightmoon extra-curriculers, there's no way you girls will be able to complete these on another campus."
Oh shit, Adora hadn't even thought of that. How can she play basketball and be in the play while at Prime Elite? Catra had it worse, being the Head Organizer for the fashion show as well.
"What nonsense. Adora can join Elite's Basketball team, and I'll give you a small traveling expense to perform both your duties at Brightmoon once a fortnight."
"Now that's awfully expensive Horace. You'd need to expend on a jet or helicopter almost every week."
Angella seemed relieved, but Prime waved her worries off with the flick of a hand.
"Anything to gain these gems as a pair of assets to my collection."
Hearing those words made it very difficult for Adora not to turn towards the door and sprint down the hallway right at that moment.
"Then I guess it's settled."
Angella clasped her hands on the table, nodding at the girls with tight lips and a dull expression. She was obviously reluctant to let them go, but she didn't seem to have much of a choice in the matter, given Prime and the girls were favorable towards the exchange.
"I hope you two are content with your decision, because there's no undoing it now. You've locked the idea in his brain," Angella murmured to them as they walked out the room, a hand on each of their backs guiding them out the door. Adora exhaled audibly as the door closed behind them, slowly turning towards Catra.
"Holy fuck, we're going to Prime Elite."
Adora nodded slowly, letting Catra's words sink into her mind. She hadn't even consulted Shadow Weaver on the exchange, but considering Prime Elite's reputation, she doubted she'd disapprove.
