"Adora, what're you wearing for the Gala?"
Glimmer whined as they sat backstage, Adora watching DT rehearse Catra's lines with her.
"The Gala? Is that soon?"
Glimmer stared at her agape, holding up her phone with a digital poster loaded up on it.
"Uh yeah!"
She nodded her head indulgently at her, Adora scanning the print on the document.
Holy shit. It was only a month away.
"Fuck, I haven't even thought about it. What are you wearing?"
"I was going to a consultation tonight with my designer to help figure it out. You'd better come with me."
"Sorry, Glim, but I can't afford a professional designer. I'll just buy something from the store," she shrugged, but Glimmer's reaction told her that she'd just said something highly inadequate.
"Oh no, no, no, NO! Adora, you do not wear something from the store to the gala."
The blonde looked at her friend with raised eyebrows and narrowed eyes.
"Your privilege is really showing right now, you know?"
She meant it lightheartedly, but something inside of her nagged. Everyone in this school was famous, or special, or kids of special people at least. She was nothing compared to the students here. Glimmer's expression melted slightly and she took a seat beside her.
"Look, it sounds pretentious, but this Gala goes in the media, it's everywhere. You're going to have to entire world judging whatever you wear."
"So what do I do? I'll just skip it."
Her heart sunk slightly, everyone had been talking up the gala ever since she'd come to the school.
"No, that's stupid. I'll bring you with me to my consult, free of charge."
She winked, and Adora quickly shook her head. She refused to be a charity case to her rich friends.
"No, no, that's fine. Getting your designer to make me something unique will probably be too expensive."
Glimmer waved it off with enviable ease.
"Nah, it's all good," she winked but Adora continued to just shake her head.
"Let me put something towards it, I'll get a part-time job!"
She had seen an advertisement for staff needed at the school gym. Apparently they didn't have enough staff to monitor it during after school hours, so now they were looking for students. She was fairly sure Mermista would hire her without a doubt.
"Sure, if you want to. But really, it's no stress."
Adora nodded, glad she was at least making some sort of contribution towards the funding of her outfit.

"Dearie, dearie! Come in, come in!"
The door opened to...Razz?
Yes, it was Razz. The same Razz from the hopsital had now appeared before their eyes, adorning a silk robe and slippers too big for her knobby little feet.
"Razz? You're a fashion designer?"
"She's the best in the city, designs the clothing for everyone in the family."
Glimmer hugged the woman with familiarity, and Adora hesitantly did the same when the kooky old woman held out her arms for her.
"She was at the hospital, an experienced doctor," Adora whispered in confusion to Glimmer. Surely you couldn't spend majority of your life building two careers. One was difficult enough.
