he had been conscious for a while now, just trying to get a few more minutes of shut eye before beginning his usual shift at work then coming home to his wife and daughter. his two great loves.

when he was finally in align with the fact that he could no longer get some more sleep in before it was time to start the day, his eyelids lifted to his skin, and his pupils couldn't help but watch his sleeping beauties, wrapped warm and cozy beneath the blankets, doze peacefully for the last few minutes. his wife looked so relaxed, at ease, and more beautiful than ever. he wondered how, as time went by, she managed to grow younger and even more prepossessing.

his daughter was a little sweetheart, her little body consumed by the bed covers so only her head could be seen. her long and untamed hair went all directions, and silent snores escaped from her mouth. she took after her mother.

the sun was bright, and could be seen through the window which the thick curtains were supposed to block, but to no avail. so finally, consciousness conquered her brain, her eyes unfolding and adjusting her view to look directly at his gaze.

a smile appeared on his lips, and a slightly smaller one on hers, her peaceful expression undisturbed.

"good morning." owen whispered, because their little girl was still sound asleep.

"morning." cristina answered back with her raspy morning voice. she was glowing. she had been for six years, and he took note of it whenever he saw her alluring features. the ones that made him morph into a teenager all over again.

her eyes moved down to her stomach, a hand moving on top of it, and rubbing it slowly. she was six weeks, and this time, she was unusually elated to be carrying novella's brother or sister inside of her womb. things were different now, and perhaps, she liked it that way.

she caught her hands moving onto where her daughter lie, carefully shaking her to wake up. once an eye opened up to look at her mother, a tired yawn came from her mouth, and stretched her body afterwards.

"good morning sleepyhead." cristina grinned, sitting up from her spot. owen did the same, picking her up into his lap, giving her multiple kisses on the cheek before she could get her giggles out.

"good morning daddy." she spoke within giggles, moving away from his lap and crawling over to kiss her mother.

"good morning mom." novella said, the laughs still escaping from her system. she always called her mom. cristina didn't want to be called 'mommy'.

"good morning sweetheart." novella gave her one of her warm little hugs before cristina gave her a peck on the cheek. she was adorable. after the hug came to an end, she moved down to her mother's belly, giving it a kiss on the lips.

"good morning to you too, baby." owen laughed. cristina gave a sigh.

"who taught her how to be the polar opposite of me?" cristina questioned, her head turned to owen's. he gave a shrug.

"everyone is the polar opposite of you." a playful eye roll came from her eyes.

"whatever, owen." chuckling, he lifted the covers off of him, picking novella up with his masculine arms, and carried her out of their room.

"okay, kiddo what do you want for breakfast?" cristina heard once they were out of their bedroom. novella had her own room; the house they had moved into once she was born was more than big enough for the three of them, but occasionally she would sleep with her parents.

still in bed, she gave a small sigh, looking at her hand. this time, accompanied with an expensive wedding ring that he had bought for her a few years prior. she beamed.
