"how's it going? are you feeling any kicks yet?" meredith questioned, as they sat in the attendings' lounge. cristina shook her head, pouring herself a cup of coffee.

"meredith, you know i'm as flat as a board and the baby is like five weeks. and you can't be talking about it around here. you're the only one who knows, remember?" meredith sighed then gave her a glare.

"if you're so smart, why are you drinking coffee when you're pregnant?" she retorted.

she rolled her eyes. "oh, please. it's coffee. it's not gonna kill it. i wouldn't do it if i knew it was bad for the fetus in my womb." she took a sip of her coffee and sat down next to meredith. "and stop saying the word 'pregnant' around me. it makes people suspicious."

meredith looked around the room. "there's no one here.."

"anyone can come at any minute. it happens all the time." she said, taking another sip from her mug.

the door opened quickly and all eyes stared at the front of the room.

"example 'a'." cristina smirked, looking to see who it was. "owen, why are you here?" he looked at meredith and forced a smile.

"i have a new trauma case. i thought you might want it. the heart's damaged and needs repair. an atrial septum defect, and it's the biggest one i've seen." cristina could see that by the look on his face, it was huge.

"woah, alright." she smiled, hopping right off of the couch and rushing over to the door. meredith watched as she walked away.

"at least the guy who opened the door was owen and not someone else who didn't know i was...expecting." she made a face. "ew, i am never saying that ever again."

meredith snorted. "you know, one of these days you're gonna go from surgeon to soccer mom." cristina's eyes widened in disbelief.

"you didn't dare." she spoke, dramatically flipping her off and exiting the room. walking out the door she said, "and i will never be a soccer mom for as long as i live."

meredith laughed again. "yeah, right."

once she left the attendings' lounge, cristina rubbed her hands together in excitement.

"so, tell me about my operation. am i going in right now?" she asked owen, tilting her head up to look at him.

"it's a little boy. his name's aiden." he handed her the chart in his hand while she flipped through it quickly. "he's nine. no closure. it's unfortunate, so his parents want you to operate on him."

cristina watched him, confused. "that's it? that's nothing. i can just close it, then i'm done."

owen shook his head. "you'll understand when you get in there. it's much more complicated than you think."

"how complicated can repairing an atrial septal defect be?" she asked, looking at the chart once again. "nothing else on here seems abnormal to me."

owen guided her to the room where the patient was at and he opened the door to reveal the patient. she looked up from the chart in her hand and immediately watched, almost horrified.

"what in the-"

she whispered underneath her breath, but owen hit her side just hard enough so she could stop talking.

"mr. and mrs. rodriguez." doctor hunt cleared his throat, taking the chart away from cristina's hand. she still stood in shock, but a smile absent-mindedly crept into her face.

"this is doctor yang. she will be performing your son's surgery today in a few hours. if you want any more details feel free to ask either of us, and we will provide you with some answers, but other than that, there is nothing to worry about. doctor yang is excellent at what she does." he glanced at cristina, the creepy smile still present on her face while looking at aiden, who glared back, looking almost terrified.
