Harry was attempting to control their infamous temper as Sirius and Dumbledore argued about their future. They had been pulled away at lunch again, not that it was stopping them from eating, Professor Snape had made sure to have a house elf bring him some food. Harry had actually really liked the idea of magical tutors since it meant that they could work at their own pace. Dumbledore hadn't liked their answer.
"You said you wouldn't meddle with their answer, you old fool!"
"Sirius, you know as well as I do that the prophecy needs to come first. Voldemort must be defeated before can move away from his loving relatives or leave Hogwarts. This is the safest place for him right now."
"Is it?" Harry finally spoke, annoyance palpable. "I have been attacked every year at Hogwarts by easily avoidable enemies! I read up on the wards over the summer and you must have known! There are wards for dark magic and cursed objects, which means you knew what was going on both years!"
"I'm tired of being tested! I want to take my studies seriously, so I can get a mastery! I would like to be able to actually live my life knowing that I am doing what I want to! If the wizarding world wants a savior so bad, then they can find someone else! I am going to be a normal teenager whether you want me to be or not! I'm going to stay at Hogwarts for the experience, but if you try anything else, I'll get Sirius to pull me out."
Harry didn't wait for the anticipated response, they knew what the old man would say: he'd make some allusion to their parents and act very disappointed in them. Honestly, same song and dance every time they stepped back from his master plans. It didn't matter, they were going to enjoy this school year completely free of the stubborn old goat's tests!
They stood and walked out of the room gracefully, fully channeling the 'Draco Malfoy Strut'. Luna was probably waiting for them with the others, so they could check on her then. Considering Pomphrey almost kept them in the infirmary for the day, they managed to get out of that one due to the meeting.
Rushing to the Great Hall, they had just managed to enter to find Malfoy causing problems with Ron again. Same as always. They slipped by the two, preferring to check up on Luna before dealing with whatever petty argument Draco had started this time. Luna was quickly checked over and deemed alright, but she, like everyone else, was focused on the fight.
"Well maybe if your family wasn't so poor, you could afford a brain!" Nope, time to step in.
"Draco Malfoy! That is enough! Do you have no shame, no tact? How you claim to be cultured and then pull stunts like these are beyond me!" Harry refused to allow him a moment to breath, merely grabbed him by the ear and pulled him out of the Great Hall. "Clearly you need a refresher course in basic manners!"
It was twenty minutes later that Professor Snape came to rescue his godson, who was sitting in a desk being lectured on learning disorders, almost in tears. He stood in the doorway for a few minutes, waiting for Harry to take a breath so he could step in. Though, even he had to admit that Draco had this coming, especially since every teacher had been informed by the trio about Ron's dyslexia. Still it took five minutes for Harry to come to the end of that section of their lecture.
"Potter, I believe that you have traumatized him sufficiently."
"I doubt it." They glared at the blonde before moving to leave. "If I ever hear you insulting someone about some mental disorder they can't control, then I'll make this look like a lovely conversation."
They walked to the library, where Hermione would definitely be, Saturday or not. They found Hermione, Ron, and Neville at the small table in the back corner, hidden away by a bookcase. It was their usual study spot. The three were working on homework together, explaining different parts to each other when someone didn't understand.
They sat in the empty chair and finished their own homework. Professor Snape had assigned a foot and a half on the uses of flobberworms. Mcgonagall wanted two feet on how to transfigure an animal into a perfect goblet as well as practice the spell itself. Flitwick wanted a half foot on the cheering charm. And Sprout asked for them to work with their petunias some more. Harry and Hermione also had a foot and a half on the rune Inez and its affects as well as three feet on an arithmetic formula.
Thankfully, most of their homework was finished, since they spent time working on it most nights before bed. With their homework done, the four decided to play Ten Minute Ramble. It was a game that Harry and Ron had made in first year to limit the amount of time Hermione would talk about one subject at a time. It was Ron's turn to start.
"So, Charlie was telling me about this subspecies of dragon they discovered! Their called Pixie Whiptails! They only get about two feet tall and are only found in tropical rain forests! Isn't so cool! They eat berries, tree nuts, and small animals like lizards! They can light their tails on fire and use it as a whip when they feel threatened, Charlie found that out the hard way!"
"My gran says that if I can finish the year in the top ten, she'll get me a greenhouse! I want to ask Professor Sprout if I could take some clippings from the Hogwarts greenhouses. I might be able to practice my brewing at home if I can grow my own ingredients. And I might be able to get Gran to let you guys come visit! We could have mine and Harry's birthdays at my house!"
"Apparently, each of the founders left behind secret rooms just like the Chamber of Secrets! We should definitely go looking for them at some point this year! I read that Helga Hufflepuff left a room that will give you anything you need at the moment! Rowena Ravenclaw left a library with books that are older than Merlin and Morgana! Godric Gryffindor left an armory of enchanted weaponry! And I found out that the chamber of secrets was actually supposed to be Hogwarts' last line of defense! It was made so the students could hide down there and be protected by the basilisk! I guess all the time alone made the snake go crazy or maybe it was the diary's fault."
"If we could figure out the correct rune sequence we might be able to integrate technology into the wizarding world! I'm spending Christmas with Sirius out of the caste, so I might make a trip and get some books on coding. It would be amazing if we could call and text each other instead of waiting on Owl mail that can take a long time, not that that'll stop completely. But we could have internet at Hogwarts! Imagine teaching the purebloods about muggle pop culture!"
The four continued their game until dinner. They ate dinner and continued talking about the different things they could add to the wizarding world until they were finished. Harry was going to be spending the rest of the evening until curfew with Sirius and Remus, as he insisted on being called. The four split up and spent the rest of the day peacefully.
