The rest of the school year was quiet and calm, much to the chagrin of the adventure loving trio. The three took their end of the year tests after popcorn studying with Neville, who they taught how they studied. They would take turns to say a question and whoever could shout out the answer first gained a point, or a piece of popcorn if they could get the house elves to make them some.

They also spent a lot of time with Luna, who, despite her oddities and creatures, got along well with Hermione. They would sit and talk about weird subjects for hours on end. Her and Ron would chat about new creatures that had been recently discovered. Harry and Luna talked about everything and nothing, or they would sit and read together.

And after a lot of yelling and some goblin interaction, Harry would not be returning to the Dursleys house. Instead, they were officially moving in with Sirius and Remus, who had resigned from his position after his condition had been leaked to the parents. Harry had a feeling that Dumbledore was the one who 'accidentally' let out their pseudo-godfather's secret. Still, they were meeting their godfathers at the station.

"Alright! I had the house elves make some extra food, so we could have a snack on the train!" Hermione grabbed some plates of food, covered in foil, from her bag and passed them around. "We should eat something other than candy before we go home."

They all ate their food, ham and cucumber sandwiches, and played a few games to pass the time. Neville produced a pack of cards for exploding snap and roped all of them into a game. Ron won the first round, then Luna, then Neville. Harry and Hermione were having a very hard time winning, as both seemed to get the exploding card every time.

Once that grew boring, they broke off into smaller groups. Harry and Luna sat next to each other to read a book on warding, Ron and Neville were playing a game of chess, and Hermione took a small nap. They soon arrived at the station.

"Harry!" A blur slammed into their chest, knocking them to the ground. "I've missed you so much!"

"Sirius, don't run off like that! And let Harry up!"

"Honestly, you would think that the mutt would be trained by now."

Harry couldn't help the large grin that appeared on their face as the three men continued to snipe at each other. Sirius had told them that they would be staying in the place where he grew up. He had even paid the goblins to renovate and clean it! He had kept the house elf, even if he complained endlessly about it.

"Alright, we're apparating to Grimmauld! Try to keep your lunches in!" Sirius's too happy reply was followed by the feeling of being dragged through a tube. "Welcome to my ancestral home and prison of sixteen long years!"

"Nasty master and bad mutt ruining Mistress's home," an ancient house elf stood glaring and muttering about them from a few feet inside.

"Enough Kreacher! As Lord Black I order you to never harm my godchild, Harry."

"Disgrace to poor Mistress. Kreacher has to listen to nasty traitors and bad mutts."

Harry walked forward, stopping in front of the bitter house elf, and held out their hand. Not saying a single word as the elf slowly reached forward to touch their hand. They released the hold on their magic and allowed it to swirl around themself and Kreacher. Instead of pure, light magic, Harry's, much like Hermione and Ron's, was gray leaning toward dark.

"Kreacher be getting tiny master tea!" Kreacher popped out of the room leaving Harry to face the firing squad alone.

They were dragged to the dining room that was attached to the small kitchen area through a doorway. The room was warmly lit with a solid oak table and chairs in the middle. The black coat of arms sat above the fireplace that took up one wall. They could hear Kreature moving around in the kitchen as they were lightly pushed into the nearest chair.

"That was dark magic! Why do you know dark magic?" Sirius was clearly trying to be calm, but his voice was cracking from stress and his body language belied his anxiety.

"It's not pure dark magic actually. It's more gray, leaning to dark. Though, I don't understand why you seem so upset by this, after all dark magic is just more emotion-based than light magic. It doesn't mean I'm going to fall off my rocker and hurt anyone."

"While this is fascinating," Snape's sarcasm was as cutting as always, but Harry could see the man was just as anxious as Sirius, even if he could hide it better. "You have not answered the question."

"Me, Hermione, and Ron snuck into the forbidden section in the library last year looking for answers about the Chamber. We didn't find anything, obviously, but we found a few books on dark magic. Nothing too bad. Most of them were healing spells. We all knew we could get in trouble, but those spells could fix a lot more of the damage the Dursleys did and anything that happened to Hermione while she was at home."

"Is Miss Granger being harmed by her parents?" Remus finally spoke, concern filling his eyes.

"No! Her parents are really nice, even if they get really busy sometimes. No, people will attack her or throw things at her sometimes when she walks around her town. It's a predominantly white neighborhood and they are super rude to her. Someone told her that her parents shouldn't have adopted her!"

"We can deal with that later. Can you finish explaining the dark magic?"

"Oh, I forgot about that. Um, well, we decided to learn some of the dark magic healing spells. Then the chamber thing happened. After Hermione was unpetrified we may have snuck back into the chamber and found Slytherin's personal library? Hermione considered it a cardinal sin to leave the books to rot down there, so we took them. Moth of them have gray and neutral spells, but everything was written in Parseltongue.

"I've been slowly translating everything, but it's kinda hard since I can't really differentiate when I'm talking in English or Parseltongue. Still, we found this really cool shadow spell that we decided to try, it basically just makes a little shadow puppet! It was really cool! We've been avoiding any and all spells that could hurt us or anyone else. Just tiny harmless spells that are meant to entertain children. Did you know Slytherin had two kids? He had a son and a daughter!"

"Harry, do you know why dark magic was banned?"

"Of course! I'm not an idiot. Since dark magic needs emotional responses to work, it can become addicting. Hermione thought it might be because a rush of dopamine is received after every dark spell which can lead to manic tendencies."

"Exactly, which is why you won't be practicing without a proper teacher. As long as you are not insufferable, I will monitor your progress and prevent an addiction." Snape's tone booked no room for argument.

Sirius was slightly disappointed, but if it kept Harry alive and well, then he could teach them some of the Black family magic. He would need to go through the library and go up to the attic to talk with his mother's portrait. As much as he wasn't looking forward to speaking with her again, he would need to know where the family grimoire was. This summer was going to be interesting at least.
