“Mom, but I feel bad…” I say with my head down on the kitchen counter. My mom was the only one who could understand what I was going through.
She huffs with Princeton still her arms “Listen, you are young and so is Chris. You two moved way too fast. So what if you may have made a small connection with another man, aren’t you and Chris on a break?” She asks stirring the pot of chicken soup.
“Well…I mean Chris and I….”
“Rita! Please tell me you haven’t been ignoring Chris! What did I tell you about that? That is not just your boyfriend, he is your husband! You can’t continue to run away from your problems Rita. Chris is--” We both stop talking as soon as Michael and his new business partner walk into the room
He smiles kissing my mom “You two don’t have to stop gossiping because I walk in the room” He walks over hugging me as well “How have you been Rita. Chris is walking around like a sad puppy, so I guess not too well?”
I shake my head almost tearing up “I’ll be fine. Chris and I just need to talk.”
“Well this is my business partner Idris Elba and he will be head of our new security department. He will be around the house a lot so I needed to introduce him to the family.” Michael says taking Princeton from my mom
“Hello how are you--?” He extends his hand
I let out a fake smile shaking his hand “It’s Rita.”
“Wow Mike, you have a house full of beautiful women.”
“Don’t I know it?” Michael smiles holding on to my mom
“So Mike tells me you’re a teacher Rita?” Idris asks now leaning against the counter
I nod “Yeah I teach 3rd grade at McCoy Elementary.”
He raises a brow “Oh so you like children?”
“Yeah, I taught 12th grade as well” I say and get semi sad “I’m sorry, but I need to excuse myself.” I get up from my seat and walk out of the house. I need to talk to Chris! I miss him…
I get in my car and decide to call him before dropping by his place…
*phone rings twice*
Chris: Hello *woman’s voice*
Rita: Hey…hey Mama J, how are you?
Chris: I’m fine baby how have you been?
Rita: I’m okay. Is Chris around?
Chris: Umm I think him and his friends went ahead of us, we’re all going to the beach today
Rita: All?
Chris: Yeah, Chris, Mijo, Austin, Keeis, some new girl, India, the kids, and a few more of us including Joe’s kids
My heart dropped…
Rita: Who is the girl Mama?
Chris: She’s just his friend Rita. She just got out a bad situation and I’ve been helping her find a new place like I did with Teyana. Chris’ heart is with you baby.
Rita: Umm okay, well when you get around Chris can you tell him to call me sometime today?
Chris: Okay baby, I will. And you stop worrying!
