Rihanna
I cover my face because I feel myself about to cry. "Why do you do this to me."
"Rihanna, just talk to me about this. We can make this work. Maybe not together, but I want you in his life. You're his mom, no matter what anyone says." He starts
"Stop!" I yell, grabbing my bag from the ground. "Just stop talking to me. This...." I point from me to him. "Never happened, okay!"
He continues to follow me back to my apartment. "Rih, okay, I'll stop lying, I just miss you. I miss us! I want to make this work with you. Junior is in preschool now, and I know he would love to get to know you."
I stop and turn to him. "Idris, I have been gone for 4 and a half years, what would I look like coming back now?"
"Like a mother who misses her son. We had a good thing! We can just be friends; I just miss us hanging out. You just stop caring...." He speaks never breaking eye contact
I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to go and get my son. I didn't want to leave him, but I just couldn't handle the responsibility that came with it all....
Flashback
5 years' prior
"Rihanna! I know you hear me talking to you!" My mother yells following me around my room. "What do you think your doing?"
I huff. "Mom I'm moving in with him!"
She grabs me by my shoulder. "I forbid it!"
"Mom, I have to! I love Idris, and this is his baby too! He's moving to the states, and I'm going with him." I say standing tall to my mother, before a sharp pain goes across my face
"How dare you!" She screams. "You put shame on this family as is, dating some old painter who plays with children, and now you, a beautiful, once smart girl, have child with this fool!"
I can hardly speak. "But mom..."
"No! Just get out!" She grabs a hand full of my clothes, and throws them across the room. "Just get out, we don't want you here!"
I grab some of my things from the floor. "You can't do this to me, this is your grandchild!"
"That thing growing in you is nothing to me! You are a smart girl, and at 18, you have already ruined your life. If you keep this child, I will never speak to you as long as I live." Her breathing is just as heavy as mine. "As long as that child is in you, I want nothing to do with you or that 29-year-old pervert!"
Tears are now streaming from my face. "You don't mean that...you can't"
"Rihanna get out...." She speaks lowly throwing my things out of the drawer
I try grabbing her arm. "Mom, I am you! You had me at 16 by some dumb 28 year old fisherman, but yet you still love dad and you still love me!"
"Used to love you!" she screams pushing me to the ground. "Idris is nothing but trouble, and he is nothing like your father! The nerve of you, child! You are nothing to me Rihanna, and I'd prefer you not soil your family name any longer. Leave!"
Her words hit me like a ton of bricks, but I have to respect her wishes. "Okay mom, I'm sorry. I'll do what you wish, but I can't kill him. I have to let him live, Idris can raise him...." I cry
"Get out!"
"I'll go to the states, have the baby, so he has a better life..."
"Get! Out!" He voice is chilling low
