Amber

"Yes, I'm so glad you could come over and finally see my place." I smile excitedly talking to my best friend David.

He raises a brow. "I don't know how you did it, but you do seem happier. I can't lie and say Cameron doesn't call me everyday looking for you, but you seem happy here." He says sitting back on my new couch.

"Well..." I smile. "With my new boyfriend around, I have nothing but everything to smile about!" Just thinking about Michael makes me blush. He basically takes care of me in every way possible. He upgraded me into a home he purchased in the hills, new BMW, and I have more clients than ever these days. I don't know how he does it, but that man saved me. I giggle. "I've definitely fell for him."

"Already Amber?" He scrunches his face

"We just click." I smile

The sound of keys

We both look over to the door when I see Michael walk into the house. Something about the look on his face tells me I need to be explaining. I stand. "Well hello Michael." I say walking over to him hugging him tight.

He looks from David and then back to me. "Who is he?"

"Geez, look at me having no manners. This here is David Logan..." I say pulling down my dress. "I told you one of my closest friends from college would be dropping by. And David, this is the Michael Brown."

David stands with an extended hand. "Hey man, I love the work you do around the city. The new community centers! Just what we need for these inner city kids."

"Well thank you." Michael says never breaking contact with David. "May I ask what you do?"
David clears his throat. "School counselor. I work with kids who come from the system, and make sure they are doing good in school. I just bounce around from school to school."

"Don't be so coy David." I say noticing that David seems intimidated since Michael is watching him like a hawk. "David is one of the top child phycologist in California. One of three working for DCS California."

Michael loosens his tie. "Hmmmm is that so?"

"Um yeah." He says with a reassuring nod

"We could use a brother like you on our staff at the community center here in LA." He says and it surprises even me.

David stutters. "Uh yeah, that'd be good. I'm always up for freelance work.

"Yeah, um let me ask you this." Michael says finally letting me go. "Does your boyfriend do this kind of work too."

I let out a sigh. "Michael..." I say lowly

David makes a face. "Well I'm not gay, so no. But my girlfriend is a school teacher."

Michael chuckles. "Hey can you give Amber and I some time? I have some blueprints I need her to check out and approve." He digs in his pocket pulling out a business card. "Man just call me and let me know when you can drop off a resume, I'm definitely interested in taking these community centers to the next level. Why don't we all just sit for dinner or something." He says finally taking off his jacket.

"Yeah man, thank you." David says reaching for a handshake but Michael pulls him in for a hug.

"Any friend of Amber's is a friend of mine." He says with a genuine smile

"See, I told you he's great." I smile hugging David as he grabs his jacket heading to the door.

Michael opens it for him. "Just make sure you let me know when your free alright?"
