As the hours pass, I will let you know,
That I need to ask, before I'm alone,
How it feels to rest on your patient lips,
To eternal bliss,
I'm so glad to know.~~~
August 18th, 4 am.
"Tell me what you want, Kyle."
When he heard Stan's voice breaking, he looked back at his friend from the stairs. He couldn't ignore it when he knew Stan was in pain. He never did. He finally let his tears fall, wishing that these past few days never happened.
'I never wanted to hurt you...'
"I..."
"Tell me what you want, Kyle. Because, trust me..." He sniffled. "I want that too. Whatever you want, I want it too... I'm not lying, I really am sorry. I just... panicked, and said those things without thinking. So please, Ky... don't be mad at me. I'll do better, I promise! Just... don't be mad, please."
He watched as his friend stood there, hands in fists, not even trying to contain his sobs. He frowned at the sight.
'I never wanted this, damn it...'
Seeing how heartbroken Stan was, made Kyle realize something he never did.
He doesn't like Stan. Not as a friend anymore, at least.
He loves him.
All he wants is for Stan to understand how much he means to him. To everyone. He wants Stan to see how amazing he is, and how he's wasting himself with this lifestyle he has. The same sad routine: Wake up, drink, go to work, go back home, drink again, eat, drink some more, pass out on the couch. He is better than when he was younger. Those years were the darkest of his life. He would barely talk to anybody. He'd spend his days alone, drinking, listening to his father's bullshit all day long. Then, he started going out more. He started hanging out with Tweek and Kyle again. He started having fun. But Kyle could never get the bottle away from his friend. And he can't believe that all of this suffering and pain was all it took for him to realize this.
Kyle is awesome as a psychologist. He's gotten two awards already, and he is only 23. People would come to him for guidance, especially kids, and he was the happiest he could be. He was proud of himself, and he was happy that others felt trust in him. He likes to help people. But when it came to his own problems... that's a whole different story.
They say that the thing that annoys you the most in somebody else, is the thing you need to change in yourself. Then Kyle knows he needs to stop leaving his friend behind, the way Stan has been doing with him. It's not entirely his fault anyway. Stan is hurting, and yes, sometimes he is an asshole. But he needed someone to be there for him, and Kyle hasn't been that 'someone'. If he was the 'Super Best Friend' he claims to be, he would stop telling Stan what to do, and actually help him.
'I guess this is the reason why doctors don't treat friends as their patients...'
