I woke up to the sound whispers. I sat up, and looked around me to see girls talking about me, until they realized I was awake. Playing it off, I stretched, my back still stiff after sleeping on the air mattress. I knew many of the girls were staring at me, wondering when the new addition had come, late in the night.
The others were getting ready for school. Some wore uniforms, and others just normal clothes.
I tried to keep to myself, but one of the girls insisted on helping me, only to chat my ears off. She was obsessed with superheroes, and told me everything about Batman, Nightwing, Red Robin, and Robin. She said she was saved by Red Robin once, and I thought that it was absolutely adorable. Some of the older girls were talking about hot guys at school, and mentioned the Waynes and how rich they were. I remembered the name from Officer Grayson, and prayed that they were not the same.
Eventually, I made my to the bathroom, before someone banged on it and yelled at me to hurry up. I quickly got out, and someone rushed right in. I wandered downstairs, not willing to interact with the other girls.
Mrs. Jacobski was getting milk and cereal out for the kids.
"Do you need any help?" I asked her.
She turned, and told me. "Yeah, can you grab the bowls from the cupboard next to the fridge."
I nodded, and grabbed as many as I could carry, and set them next to the table.
Mrs. Jacobski and I worked alongside each other in quiet, as the boys and girls stumbled down the stairs.
After they had left for the bus, I helped her clean up, while Child Services was scrambling to get me documents and enroll me in school, according to Mrs. Jacobski. She was a sweet old lady, and I was grateful that I had been stuck with her.
Until the doorbell rang.
"Would you be a dear, and go get the door?" She asked.
"Yeah, one sec." I told her. I walked to the door, and looked through the peephole. It was Officer Grayson. I panicked. Did they figure out I had powers and were sending me to jail?
I took a deep breath, and opened the door. With a fake smile plastered on my face, I said, "Officer Grayson! What are you doing here?" I looked behind him, "And who's the other guy?" I asked him. The man behind Officer Dick Grayson, was an older man, early forties, and handsome. He wore a suit, which made him look dignified, and had black hair and blue eyes. While Dick's bleh eyes were happy, this man's eyes were serious, he was ready for business.
"Hi Vivi, this is Bruce Wayne, we're actually here to talk to you. Is the caretaker here?"
"Yes, just a moment."
I left the door open, and made my way to Mrs. Jacobski, who was washing the dishes.
"Officer Grayson and Bruce Wayne are here, and they want to see you."
She drops the bowl in the sink.
"As in Bruce Wayne, the billionaire?" She asked astounded like.
"I don't know." I answered with honesty.
She smoothed out her clothes, and walked to the door. "Come in, come in."
The men step into the house. I shyly wave.
"Mrs. Jacobski, is there anywhere we could talk to Viviana?" Bruce Wayne asks.
"Yes of course, follow me." She leads us into the living room, where the men sit on the couch, and I sit in a recliner. "Holler if you need anything."
"Thank you." I told her, and she nodded as she walked away.
It was awkward, to say the least.
Officer Grayson cleared his throat. "So, Vivi, this is Bruce Wayne, and he was my adoptive father."
