"Father, why am I not allowed to go to the Justice League meeting?" Damian says, while sharpening his katana.
"Because Jon is coming over, and frankly, you need to work on your social skills." Bruce says, fitting into his Batman suit.
"Tt. You and Grayson are the same. My 'people skills' are fine." Damian says, beginning to attack the dummy with his weapon of choice.
"Then you shouldn't be complaining about hanging out with Jon tonight." I say, spinning around in the chair in front of the BatComputer.
Jason is out on patrol while me, Nightwing, and Batman will be heading up to the League's headquarters.
"Easy for you to say, Parker." Damian states.
"What was that I heard?" I ask.
"Nothing."
Tim pops his head from above, "The Kents are here."
The door bell rings not two seconds later.
I head upstairs, with Damian following me from behind.
"Hurry up Parker." Damian complains.
"I can go slower if you want?" I passive aggressively threaten.
Damian sneers, "Drop dead."
I stop right on the stairs. "I will in a month."
He pauses behind me, "I thought it was two months?"
"Lucky for you, you're wrong." I say emotionless.
Damian breezes by me to the foyer and I slowly followed.
He didn't mean that, right?
Alfred opens the door, and Damian's best friend, Jon runs in.
"Dami!" He yells and tries to give Damian a hug. Damian tries to push him to be at least an arm's length away, but Jon finds a way to hug him, full force.
I didn't know how the kid didn't get violently murdered by Damian, I would never know, but I automatically respected him.
Alfred is talking to Jon's father, Clark Kent, a reporter for the Daily Planet in Metropolis. I recall that his wife is Lois Lane-Kent.
"So you're Damian's best friend?" I ask.
"Yes!" Jon shouts as Damian says, "Self-proclaimed."
They have the exact opposite energy, and it's giving me whiplash.
Damian pulls out the nastiest of his glares, but Jon shrugs and pulls him to the movie room. He is officially the happiest kid I've ever met.
Damian had met his match.
I blink my eyes over and over again, because I cannot believe what just happened.
I turn and start walking towards the BatCave to get into my suit, when Clark Kent stops me.
He holds out his hand.
"Clark Kent, you must be Bruce's new adoptee."
I awkwardly grab it, and shake his hand.
"Yeah, you're Jon's dad?"
"That I am." He says with all the politeness in the world.
"Nice to meet you." I say, trying to place where I recognize this man. "Wait, you're the guy that did the Wayne's interview a few years back?"
"Right you are."
"Sorry, you're not going to get one from me." I say a bit playfully.
"Aw shucks." He kids, "I've got to go, but could you tell Jon to play nice?"
