Chapter 16

We rush back to camp. Justin demands everyone to pack up everything NOW. "What's your issue?" Nick asks sourly.

"What's my issue is that there are bloody Titans after us so unless you wanna get skewered lets move out." We're packed and moving out in no time.

A river forms, as we get further in. It widens and deepens to the point of us trying to rush but not get swept away by the current because there are only three options: a) we turn back and fight, which we are trying to avoid b) we try and climb the cliffs on either sides of the river, that's close to impossible or c) we continue in the river. It is the easiest of the options so that's what we do.

"Hurry up!" Justin shouts from up front. Well it's easy for him to say when he can freaking control the water. He parts the water giving me a chance to sprint and catch up. "Whoa, going all Moses on my ass I see." I tease him to try and lighten the mood, which fails miserably. "Don't get used to it, power takes up energy which I'm not gonna waste to too often on you." Nick looks about ready to attack him but keeps his anger in check. Zack comes and walks with me. "I'm sorry that Justin's a real prick sometimes." How can someone as sweet as Zack be partnered with Justin? "Why aren't you all mermaid right now?"

"I'm choosing to rather not spontaneously grow a tail at the moment." He grins at me.

Zack reaches for my hand and that's when all hell breaks loose. An arrow hits his shoulder. "Zack!" Justin cries out. He runs over to his partner and pulls out the arrow. I've already got one of my own knocked in a bow and am looking around. "No-one that I can see." I say as I'm searching. There's a whizzing sound and Nick knocks me down flat as an arrow travels overhead. Sh*t! That was close. Justin's face contorts with rage, the water rises up above us, forming a wall and he screams. The water rushes down the gorge towards our invisible attackers.

I can see the effort takes a toll on him but he doesn't say anything. I hope they've drowned but I know that I'd be foolish to believe it. Nick helps Zack up. "We should get going." We all agree. Justin looks exhausted and lags behind. Nick's helping Zack so I decide that I should be a good person and go help him out. "Come on, let me help you out." I say putting an arm around him. "I'm fine." Justin spits viciously and then collapses in heavy pants. I help him without a word and support him.

"We got to bandage this up." Nick says to Zack and lays him down on the practically dry riverbed. There's a shear cliff down, would've been a waterfall until Justin came along. We either have to climb up the gorge or drop down over the waterfall - or would be waterfall if there was any water. Zack and Justin aren't in any condition to do either so I'm gonna have to think of a plan or were stuck like sitting ducks. We've got a little bit of cover because we're behind a rock but that won't help for long.

I'm thinking of lowering us down with vines, none are long enough, it's a hundred foot drop at least but I've extended vines before this so it should be fine. Ok I've only done it once but I should be able to do it. Maybe. I just don't want to use too much power though and end up like Justin.

Before I voice out my plan there is a crunch of gravel. "There's no point in hiding, we know you're here." His voice chills me to the bones. I know you must be thinking 'you're so badass! What are you waiting for?' Well like a famous philosopher once said 'Wait for the opportune moment'. Ok I know it was just Jack Sparrow - sorry Captain Jack Sparrow - but that guy is a legend.

I know it's dangerous, especially since the last time I tried it I almost died but desperate times call for desperate measures. A line of fire spreads across the gorge. "Scatter!" I shout and everyone obliges. I cock an arrow.

"Such petty tricks." I hear the voice sigh and the wind picks up and the fire disappears. The two guys are standing there. I let my arrow fly but it stops and hovers inches away from the blonde's face - Erik, I think his name was. He tisks. "That's not very nice now is it?" He says, the arrow turns in mid-air and comes shooting back towards me. It bursts into flames and crumbles. The dark-haired - Thorn, if I heard correctly - looks at me amused, his brown almost black eyes bore into mine. "Fiery, aren't you?" He jumps at me, turning into a wolf in mid-air. That was AWSOME! I know what you're thinking, this guy is about to rip you're throat out and here you are admiring him. Cut me some slack ok? My mind tends to wander.

A huge black wolf made it's way towards me. "I'll handle this one you guys take down the dochebag over there." The boys seemed displeased but the tone in my voice told them not to argue. I smashed my bow across his face and he growled. I unleashed my green sword. He circled me, sizing me up. He shifted back to his normal form, wearing clothes before your dirty mind starts imagining something else...how that was possible I do not know. He took out his sword. He grinned mischievously, "You've got balls, I'll give you that." I snarled my teeth.

"Bite me!"

He smirked, "Don't tempt me." Then he attacked.

There are clashes of swords, stepping this way and that. I thank God that Nick spent so much time teaching me swordplay or else I wouldn't even be able to fend for myself but it was obvious that he was much more experienced. I know it. He knows it. He disarmed me and grinned. "Any last words?" He was close to the edge of the waterfall. Sometimes I hate my crazy ideas. "Just two...Heads up." He looked at me confused and I tackle him over the edge.
