Mikasa stormed into the dinning room. She threw a paper on the table. "That stupid slimy little snake!" she cried.

Carla raised her head. In the year that she had been staying at the dragon kings castle many things had changed. Eren was becoming to understand not all parents kept their children in cages. Although he was still a little shy around the woman.

He had gone that first morning down to breakfast. Hange had Carla comfortable in a bed. There were tubes running in and out of her arms. She looked a little more aware. Knowing how father was, Eren kept his distance. He clung to Armin's arm keeping the blond in front of him so he could hide.

"Eren, I won't harm you." The woman stated.

"He's afraid." Armin spoke for his friend. "Eren was kept like an animal in a cage all his life. Your husband experimented on him. Tried to remove his birthright." Armin snarled.

"Yes. Grisha became obsessed with the dragon knight bonding once I told him Eren was marked for knighthood. It was when he locked me away as well." With Armin being Eren's protector, they managed to get to know each other a little more. Slowly the need for Armin faded but Eren kept the other knight close by.

It had taken Carla almost two months to heal enough to start therapy to walk again. From the very moment she got an audience with the king, she pleaded for Kenny's release. It seems she had fallen in love with he man. Levi had told her she had bad taste in men and refused to hear any more about his uncle.

Mikasa had interrogated Kenny for a month. She broke him down and found out his little secrets. No one knew how he had managed to live so long as just a regular human. It appears he wasn't. Hange had to step in to confirm what Kenny had told Mikasa.

Kenny had been a twin. He was suppose to be a knight and his twin his dragon shifter. But while in the womb, the two combined. Kenny reabsorbed his twin before they were ever born. Thus making Kenny three different things. He was a knight, a shifter and a human.

Kenny couldn't shift but he had the strength of a dragon in full shift. He hid this fact and used it to hunt down shifters who invaded the human lands. That's how he met Grisha. It was Eren's father who told him about his unique abilities. Kenny did admit to killing his sister after Levi's birth, but it was a mercy killing.

Levi's father hadn't been her knight. She had fallen in love with another shifter which wasn't wrong, many had this same thing happen. However the shifter she fell in love with was romantically bonded to his knight. The man didn't agree with the relationship when he found out and killed his own dragon. This sent him into insanity and he found a poison that would slowly kill Levi's mother. She lived with the constant pain for years, trying to raise Levi. When she couldn't take it any longer she begged Kenny to kill her. So, he had.

Mikasa also told Levi that over the last four months of his imprisonment, Kenny had proved to be greatly changed. Levi refused to believe it. He wouldn't go see his uncle as he was busy with planning his own wedding, getting the negotiations figured out for all four lands and ruling his own land.

"What's the matter?" Carla now asked Mikasa.

"King Ral! He is an idiot. He is sending Petra back here!" She cried. Eren lifted his hand to pick up the paper. He could read now. He was finding that carrying a dragon shifter meant he could tap into their memories. All dragon shifters were born with the knowledge of their kind. He learned to read because of his son.

"This, this is Levi's handwriting." Eren whispered. He hadn't seen much of his fiancé in a while.

"Yes, Levi is her escort." Mikasa fumed. "How has he forgiven her and not Kenny?" the women had joined together on this subject.
