The next several weeks were proving to be difficult for Amara. Her cravings were becoming more and more hard to shrug aside. Her stomach was slowly getting bigger with every passing week or so. The bigger she was getting, the more nervous she was.
She was starting to feel worried and insecure about whether she'd be a good mom or not. But tonight, she was going to ignore any and all insecurities that may surface. It was Jungwon's birthday and she wanted him to have a good night. She was just planning on making him a cake and dropping it off. But, they weren't having that. They said she was going to spend time with them tonight, after they spent some of his birthday during the day, with their staff and manager. She tried to protest about it, but they refused.
Which brought her to now, as she was shopping for the ingredients for the cake. Amara had just checked out with some fruit, since she knew Jungwon adored fruit. She walked outside, looking at the list she'd written down.
Somebody suddenly bumped into her, causing her bag to hit her in the side of the stomach. She cried out softly in both surprise and slight pain.
"Out of the way, lady," a man snapped, glaring down at her.
"You bumped into me," she told him,
He scoffed and cornered her against a wall. "Excuse me? Who are you to think you can get away with talking back to me? Huh?" He spat at her, making her cower in fear.
Oh, no. Why couldn't she ever be quiet? Why did she always have to be so hard headed? She really needed to learn when situations did and didn't call for this. This situation, was one that didn't call for her big mouth.
"You're alone, which means there's nobody to protect you. Maybe I should teach you a lesson. Show you how to respect men," the man continued, grabbing her wrist roughly.
"Who said she was alone?"
A voice surprised the both of them. They looked over at the same time, with mutual expressions of surprise on their faces. Standing a few feet away, was Kai. The man looked at him, confused to all hell. He wasn't the only one.
"Who the hell are you?" he snapped, straightening.
"That's for me to know and for you to mind your own business," Kai responded, walking over to them.
The man scoffed at the younger's words.
"This doesn't concern you, kid. So, piss off and go back home," he growled, tightening his grip on Amara's wrist, making her wince softly.
"Let go of her. She's not yours to boss around," Kai said, making the man glare at him.
"Oh really? Are you her boyfriend, pretty boy?" he laughed loudly.
"I suggest you let her go, or I'll have to make you," Kai's voice was serious and sounded dangerous.
Amara knew all to well what that meant. The man stopped laughing and glared at him.
"You want her? Then, come and get her," he sneered,
After he finished speaking, he roughly shoved Amara away from him. She hit the ground pretty hard, crying out softly. Seeing this, was all that was needed to make him snap.
Kai growled and landed a violent punch into the man's face, making him fall into a nearby trash can. Blood leaked from his nose and dropped down his chin. This angered him and he wiped the blood from his nose. Kai helped Amara to her feet, surprising her further.
"You little bastard! I'm going to kill you!" the man shouted, getting their attention.
Without saying anything, Kai grabbed her hand and ran down the street, pulling her after him. She let out a gasp, having no choice but to run after him.
"Get back here, you little shit!" T
the man yelled, running after them both,Amara already had problems running before being pregnant, due to not being skinny and not exactly having a flat chest. So, her now being pregnant, made it even harder, but she kept running anyway. She knew that if she stopped, that man would catch up to them and that wouldn't be good. She didn't want that to happen, so she forced herself to keep running. Even if she didn't want to.
Amara was pulled out of her thoughts, when she heard the man yelling after them. But, he sounded pretty far behind them. Kai stopped running and ducked into an alleyway, pulling her with him. She stumbled after after him.
"Shouldn't we--"
Kai cut her off, putting his hand over her mouth and holding her against him. Her eyes were wide from their close proximity. She stayed quiet and stood still, worried about what might happen. The two of them watched the man run past the alleyway, his footsteps fading away. After waiting for a moment longer, it was safe.
"Are you okay?" Kai asked, taking his hand from her mouth.
She hesitated, sucking in a breath. They were standing really close to each other. So close, that his chest was against her. Amara looked up at him, meeting his intense gaze. She averted her eyes, too afraid to keep looking. She hadn't spoken to him since the public incident. She stepped away from him, keeping her eyes on the ground.
"I'm fine, thank you," she said softly.
She turned away from him and was about to leave the alleyway, but he grabbed her hand, stopping her. Oh, no. Amara didn't look at him. She was afraid that if she did, she wouldn't be able to look away. And she knew that's exactly what would happen. That was the power he had over her. Normally, she wouldn't have cared and would've looked at him anyway. But, it was different this time.
Kai put a hand on her face, forcing her to look at him. But, she still refused to. She looked elsewhere. He gently gripped her chin and made it to where she'd have no choice. But, she found a way. She quickly closed her eyes, which left him out of options. Seeing her do this, made a small ache appear in his heart. He wanted her to look at him, he wanted to see her. But, he knew she wouldn't. Not after what he did to her.
Kai sighed softly, frowning. He leaned down to her level. She sensed him getting closer to her, which made her nervous.
"Huening Kai, I...--" she didn't finish her sentence.
She felt him kiss the corner of her mouth, his lips dangerously close to her own. It sent her heart into overdrive. It pounded several times, before feeling like it stopped completely. She tried to say something, but no words came out. Her brain was drawing a blank. Her mouth was open slightly. Kai pulled away from her, to see her eyes were open again. Her eyes had only met his for a second or two. He put a hand on her face and pushed his lips against hers in a deep kiss.
Amara's eyes widened slowly. Her entire body froze in place, unsure of what to do.
Why was he doing this?
