Arkala's Princess
Chapter 11
"Miss, we don't have much time left." Shya says, knocking on the door of the changing room that I was in.
"Okay, okay. I'm done." I say, slipping on the dress, and opening the door and walking out
"Take a seat, miss." Ruby says, and I sit, and they start to curl my hair.
When they're all done, I stand up and walk up to a mirror, looking at my reflection.
"You look gorgeous, miss." Ruby says.
"Thank you, Ruby." I say.
"Just fab." Shya says.
"Thanks, Shya."
"Miss? We have to be on our way." Ruby says, and I nod and follow her. "They'll be opening this door when your grandmother announces that you're the princess, and after you make your entrance, I was told to tell you that you must dance with all the men here today."
"What? All the men?"
"Yes, miss. It's tradition."
"Ugh, do I really need to?" I pout.
"Yes, miss. I was told personally by your grandmother."
"Fine." I huff.
I wait patiently, my heart beating so fast, as my grandmother speaks.
"I have someone special here today, my granddaughter, who is the future queen of Arkala. But as of now, please welcome, princess Sydney, of Arkala." My grandma says, and the door opens, and I place my hand on the rail, walking down in the black heels Shya gave me to put on. When I'm down, I breathe a small sigh, as everyone starts talking again.
"You did it, miss." Ruby says.
"I know." I smile. "I thought I would trip for a moment."
"So now there's the dancing." Ruby says, and I nod.
***
"May I have this dance?" A guy with green eyes and dirty blonde hair asks, holding out a hand.
"You may." I say quietly, taking my hand in his. We start to dance, me looking at the floor.
"Sydney.... Is it?" He speaks up.
"Yeah." I say, looking up at him. "I mean, yes." He chuckles, making a blush creep up to my cheeks.
"Trystan. Prince Trystan."
"Prince?"
"Yeah. Prince of Fallis." He says.
"Oh....." I say.
"Which... I'm guessing you don't know?"
"Sorry, I haven't been here for that long."
"I see." He chuckles. "It's not far from Arkala. It's actually quite close."
"Fallis. I like that name."
"Arkala's nice too."
"I guess." I say.
"How old are you, Sydney?" Trystan asks.
"Seventeen." I say.
"Seventeen? Me too."
"Really?"
"Yeah." Trystan says. "Hey, since you're new here, I could show you around?"
"Really?"
"Sure, no problem."
"I'll see. I don't know if I'm-" I'm stopped when I feel another pair of lips on mine. My stomach does cartwheels and backflips and.... I feel a spark while my lips move in sync with him. We both pull away for breath though, and I look everywhere but him.
"May I?" Another voice asks.
"See you later?" Trystan asks, and I nod, and he walks away. I look up into green eyes once again, and I notice that he also has dirty blonde hair.
"Hey." He says.
"Hey."
"Don't mind my brother."
"Your... Brother?" I ask.
"Twin brother to be exact."
"Oh."
"I'm Ashton." He says.
"Sydney."
"I really like the name Sydney. It's very unique."
"Thank you. I could say the same to Ashton."
"Well thank you." He chuckles.
"So I'm guessing you're also the prince of Fallis?"
"Yep." He says, as we dance. Someone clears their throat, tapping Ashton on his shoulder. Ashton nods, as he walks away, and me now dancing with another guy.
"Sydney? Am I right?" He asks, and I look his in the eyes. He has hazel coloured eyes, with chocolate brown hair.
"Uh... Hey?"
"I'm Kyle. Prince Kyle of Icelea."
"Nice to meet you, prince Kyle." I say, as we dance.
"Nice to meet you too. I saw you and Trystan were having a moment there?"
"Uh.... Yeah."
"He's a player. He kisses every girl he meets." Kyle says. "And Ashton? He's just annoying."
"Do you know them?"
"Yeah. Unfortunately." Kyle mutters. "You the same age as them?"
"Yeah."
"I just turned eighteen a few days ago."
"Really? Happy late birthday." I say.
"Thanks." He chuckles. "Me and the twins have get invited to a lot of different ceremonies all the time. So much it's annoying."
"Oh." I say.
***
"How was it?" Lyra asks me as soon as I walk into my room. I walk over to the couch and lay down.
"Ugh, tiring. And awkward."
"It would've been. Any hot guys?"
"Well, yeah.... I guess...."
"Who?" She asks, stroking Roxy.
"Do you know Fallis?"
"Oh no. Did you meet them?"
"You know them?"
"Unfortunately." Lyra says.
"Why does everyone not like the twins?"
"Because they, wait. What do you mean by everyone?"
"Well I also met this guy, prince Kyle?"
"Oh my god lucky!" Lyra says. "He's a hottie. I used to date him, for a while. And then he lost interest in me and dumped me. But I'm working on it."
"Oh god. So many names and stuff to remember."
"Why do you want to remember them?"
"Because...." I trail off. "I want to be polite and remember their names and stuff when... When I meet them again."
"You want to meet them again?"
"Ugh..... Sort of....?"
"Oh my god, Sydney. You do?" Lyra says, as Roxy jumps off her.
"I don't know. I'm just tired."
"Yeah. You should probably get sleep."
"Yeah." I say, getting up.
