Arkala's Princess

Chapter 21

I pick my phone up as my phone rings, looking at the caller ID.

Kyle <3

I go to my contacts and rub the love heart out.

Kyle

I sigh, putting my phone down when a voice mail comes in.

"Sydney, hey. I just....." He sighs. "I don't know what to say. But could you hear me out? I need to talk to you." Kyle says over the voicemail. I sigh and chuck my phone onto my bed, laying down, and closing my eyes.

"Hey." A voice says and I look up.

"How did you get in here?" I ask.

"I have my ways." Ashton shrugs, glancing down at my shirt. I'm wearing a white see-through tank top, with a black bra under it, with some shorts. Maybe I should've worn something else.

"Keep your eyes to yourself, mr." I say playfully and Ashton chuckles.

"Yes ma'am."

"Sydney, please hear me out. I really need to talk to you." Another one of Kyle's voicemails comes through again and I quickly turn the volume of my phone onto silent.

"Is that Kyle?" Ashton asks as he sits on my bed and I sit up and nod with a sigh.

"Yep."

"What happened?"

"I don't know to be honest. Me and Kyle had nothing going on between us anyways." I shrug. Ashton frowns.

"Okay, rewind, rewind. And.... Play." Ashton says and I laugh.

"Well me and Kyle kissed. A few times. And that was all we had going on between us. Nothing else. And a few days ago I told him that we should stop kissing and all that. I told him that we weren't even dating and we were making out, more than once, and then he asked me if I wanted to date him and I said I didn't feel that way towards him. And I just walked away. I don't get what he has to talk about. There is nothing to talk about, so....."

"Well maybe he likes you." Ashton says. "And he actually wants to have a serious relationship with you."

"No way. He doesn't like me." I say, shaking my head. "There no way he likes me. We just kissed, that was it."

"But he might've developed his feelings for you when you kissed him though. He might like you."

"No he doesn't, Ashton. He doesn't. He doesn't he doesn't he doesn't." I say. I think I was trying to convince myself more than I was trying to convince him.

"Okay....."

"Sorry, I just." I sigh. "I don't even know."

"It's fine, Syd. You don't need to be sorry." Ashton says, and I give him a smile. Ashton always listens to me and I really appreciate it. The thing is, we always talk about my problems and we never talk about his because I always and only talk about me.

"Thanks, Ashton." I say, leaning in and giving him a hug. He returns the hug, his thumb rubbing small circles on my back which soothed me. When we pull away, Ashton rests his head on my lap. "So tell me. Tell me something." I say.

"Tell you what?"

"I don't know, I feel like we only talk about me. It's really never you. And I want to try to return the..... I don't know what you're doing to me back to you." I say and Ashton chuckles.

"Nah, it's fine. You're good company."

"Hey, I should be saying that to you." I say, and Ashton pokes the top of my nose with his finger.

"It's fine. Really." He says when I look at him. I look into his green eyes which immediately bring me back to Trystan. I shake my head lightly and look at his hair. His dirty blonde hair is messily disheveled, but it suits him a lot. "You done looking at me?" Ashton's deep voice makes me take my gaze off him and to his eyes again. I blush furiously as Ashton chuckles.

"I-I wasn't....."

"Sure sure." Ashton says, and I lightly hit him in the arm. "Hey, no violence."

"That didn't even hurt you." I say.

"How do you know?"

"Because. I do."

"Come in!" I say after I hear a few knocks on the door. The door opens to reveal my grandmother.

"Sydney, we've got a formal dinner tonight." My grandmother says.

"Mmhm, with who?"

"With the Icelea-"

"What?" I snap, and clear my throat. "I mean, pardon?"

"We're having a formal dinner tonight with Prince Kyle of Icelea, and with his parents also. It is a formal dinner, we have important things to discuss and we would appreciate it if you and Kyle would maybe go somewhere else after dinner has finished. Anywhere but your room, you will not be acting like you have been recently."

"What important things?"

"Adult things, Sydney, dear."

"I'm not a kid, you know." I roll my eyes.

"I know, Sydney. You're a growing teenager." My grandmother says, and walks out of room, shutting the door behind her. I sigh as I lay on my bed. Oh god, do I really have to put up with Kyle right now? I'm so not in the mood. All this time I've been trying to avoid him and when I'm just getting the hang of it, I'm forced to talk to him.
