Arkala's Princess
Chapter 24
"Well I better get going." Ashton says, scratching the back of his neck. He stands up.
"A-Ashton."
"Yeah?" He glances at me.
"Thanks you for.... Your advice."
"Oh no worries." He says and walks out onto my balcony, and closes the doors. I watch as he climbs onto a tree, and goes out of sight. In instinct, my fingers go up to my lips. I can't believe I just kissed him. I can't believe I just kissed him. I can't believe he just kissed me! Oh my friggin god. Did this just happen? Oh my god oh my god oh my god.
I get up from my bed and walk over to my dressing table, and put my hair up in a messy bun and I realise that I'm still wearing the dress I wore to the dinner. I walk into my walk in wardrobe, and grab some clothes.
Soon after, I find myself in a sweatshirt crop top with high waisted shorts. I smile at myself in the mirror and walk out of my room, in a good mood.
I walk down the stairs, and my good mood fades away when I see my grandmother sipping tea in the living room. I take a deep breath and walk in. I quietly sit down on the couch opposite her. I can tell that she's noticed I'm here, but she doesn't look up until her very long sip of her tea.
"Sydney. What brings you here?" My grandmother speaks up.
"Uh.... I just wanted to talk......"
"Talk? About what?"
"Um...... Just about how.... Well about before."
"Continue."
"Well I just wanted to say sorry about my actions before." I say, and my grandma nods. "And..... I just wanted to ask, how did you come up with this..... This idea?" This crap idea, might I add.
"Well Kyle's mother and I were talking, and we thought it would be nice since you two are both at the age where we thought it would be good time to tell you because we thought you would be mature enough."
"But why Kyle?"
"Well Kyle's mother and I are close, we have been in touch often and we were both at the stage where we had to look for a partner for you, in my case."
"Already?"
"Yes, already. I know you are at a young age but I do need to get onto these things quickly."
"Wait so do I need to get married to him, like as soon as possible?"
"No, Sydney. Is that why you had a tantrum? No no no I didn't mean now, but I meant in the future." My grandmother says and I sigh in relief.
"Oh that's good. But do I have to do this?"
"Well yes if you can't find anyone else, you might have to get married to Kyle."
"But what if Kyle finds someone else?"
"Then I'll have to find you someone else, or if you find someone else that you think is right for you, then we'll figure things out then."
"Okay." I nod. "Uh thanks. I better run."
***
"Sounds like a good plan." Ashton says and I nod excitedly. I came up with this plan after my talk with my grandmother.
"Yeah. Do you think it'll work?"
"Let's hope. I will try to help in any way possible, though."
"Thanks, Ashton." I quickly give him a hug, after flicking my hair back.
"You don't need to thank me. I didn't do much anyway." He chuckles as we pull away, and I laugh.
"Okay. So phase one. Pretend I want to help Kyle find someone that he wants to marry." I say. "Oh and I also need to be more friendly towards him and all so he trusts me."
"Yep. Where are you going?" He asks as I stand up.
"To Kyle's."
"Oh. Good luck then. Call me and tell me what went down."
"'Kay." I smile as he walks out of my room. I go to my wadbrobe and look for something cute. I'm gonna go for a cute look today. In the end, I decide on a loose top and some high waisted shorts, with my bikini underneath. I was hoping to ask Kyle if we could hang out at the beach and that's when I would try to talk him to get him to trust me and then hopefully to get into the subject of marriage somehow.
I pick my phone up and scroll down my contacts to K.
"Hello?" I hear Kyle's voice.
"Hey, Kyle." I say.
"Hey."
"How are you?"
"Uh, good." He says. "What's up?"
"I don't know, I just wanted to hang out."
"Hang out?"
"Yeah. Maybe at the beach?"
"Sure. I'm okay with that." He says and I smile.
"Okay. I'll see you there, then."
"Yeah bye." He says and I hang up. I quickly run out of my room and down the stairs.
"Ruby?"
"Yes, miss?"
"Can I get a ride to the beach?"
"Wade's not in at the moment......"
"Oh." I say. "Should I just take a taxi?"
"I'll find a ride for you, miss."
"Really? Thank you." I say and glance at my phone to see that a text has come in.
Kyle: I'll be there in five <3
I smile and quickly text back.
You: K xx
"Miss, I've gotten a limo waiting for you outside." Ruby says and I nod.
"Thank you, Ruby. I'm sorry about the late notice. It was kind of unplanned, sorry."
"No need to apologise, miss. I'm sorry about the delay."
"No worries, thank you Ruby! See you later!" I say and walk out, and a man opens the limo door open for me. "Thank you." I say as I hop in.
