"Where are you taking me?"
Josephine asks after a little while. We're in my truck, driving to do something I chose. I think she's already done it before but I haven't and I wanted my first time to be with her.
The last few days were just like any regular days for Josephine and I.
I'd leave her a text asking if she's free to talk and most of the time she'd immediately call me. We would talk for an hour or two, then hang up.
But this is the first time I'm seeing her in person after whatever the fuck happened back at her place when she was baking.
I'm not sure what came over me to grab her like that and hold her to me. To caress her lower lip with my thumb.
I promised myself I wouldn't get physically close to her like that after I took her to dinner. Then, I also cupped her cheek, and it was really tempting to kiss her. Especially with the red lipstick she had on and the way she was giving me those looks with her eyes.
Though I'm confident about our friendship, it's still new. There's still so much we have to learn about each other before that step. If it even happens at all.
Maybe she isn't interested in me like that. In a physical sense. In something more.
"I already gave you more than enough hints." I tell her and switch gears.
"Hmm." She taps her finger on her mouth.
We fall into companionable silence as I drive, low music emanating from the radio.
After ten more minutes, I take an exit and drive on a secluded, straight road.
"Are you planning on murdering me?" She says, a hint of tease in her voice.
"I thought we already established that I'm not a Ted Bundy wanna-be."
I take a right, and multiple cars come into view.
"That was Candy. I never doubted you."
Glancing at her, I return her grin.
I pay for our tickets and drive to the front, so we have the best view. Then I reverse the truck so the bed is facing the white sheet.
When I kill the engine and face her, she's already looking at me with a grin.
"Drive-in movie theater?" She asks in excitement.
"You guessed it!" I clap and she pushes my palms down with an eye roll.
"I should've known after I saw pillows peeking from the truck bed." She tells me when I walk to her side and open the door.
"Should we get comfy before the movie starts?"
"Yes!" She exclaims and leans forward, putting her hands on my shoulders and jumps out of the truck. I catch her in time before she stumbles to the floor.
"Careful." I chuckle as I gently set her to the ground.
"Sorry." She lets out a giggle, then rounds the truck. "You need to buy a smaller car."
Her face is unimpressed while she stands next to the front panel.
I chuckle and tap the tip of her nose, then click the hatch and the panel drops.
She crosses her arms across her chest, pushing her breast up. My eyes only dip down for a second before returning to her face.
"Come on, I'll help you." I extend my arms, planning on lifting her up like I always do when she gets in the passenger side.
