"Someone please sedate me. I'm losing my mind."
Luca has been calm and collected the week leading to his wedding. But on the wedding day itself, he's a blabbering, fidgety mess.
"Calm down and breathe." I hold his shoulders and instruct him to breathe in deeply, then out. He mirrors me and he seems to sober up a bit.
"It's alright, dude." Mateo tells him, fixing his bow tie in the mirror. We're all wearing all black suits except for Luca, who's wearing an off-white tux. "She's not gonna get cold feet."
"I'm not worried about that." He dismisses, biting on his thumb. I pull his hand down and he starts pacing instead. Which is better than chewing his thumbnail till it bleeds.
"Man, everything will go perfectly to plan." Antonio soothes him. He's sitting on one of the lounge chairs, a drink in one hand and a baby in the other. Alana looks fucking adorable in her yellow tulle dress. I take her from him and slightly throw her in the air, making her giggle.
"Don't drop my baby girl." Antonio warns in a serious tone. He doesn't mess around when it comes to his twins.
"Fuck off." I laugh and throw her in the air once more for good measure, higher this time. Before Antonio can snatch her from me, I settle her on my hip and tell her, "Shouldn't you be at the girls' suite? Huh?" I say in my normal voice.
"This cutie can be here all she wants." My uncle, and her grandfather, says, taking her from me.
We should go to the altar in about ten minutes, but the wedding planner hasn't showed up yet to usher us there. So we're good for now.
I notice my father and Luca talking between themselves in the corner. I go to them and catch the end of what my papa is saying.
"Never disagree with her." He chuckles.
"I already don't." Luca shakes his head. "I like my balls where they are, thank you very much."
I shake my head at him and hand him a drink to help take the edge off. I haven't seen him this stressed...well, ever.
"Can I do anything?" I ask.
"Bring me to her." He says, completely serious.
"Nope." I shake my head. "You already broke the rule by sneaking off yesterday to see her. Just a few more minutes." I pat his shoulder.
The wedding is being held in one of my grandparents' beautiful beach estates here in Florida on a beautiful, sunny day in May. Yesterday, we tried our best to keep the bride and groom from seeing each other before the big day. We didn't really keep them apart for superstitious reasons, but more to be annoying.
All the groomsmen are sleeping in one suite and last night, Antonio woke up only to find Luca missing from his bed. He caught Luca and Izzy in the garden, in a compromising position.
"Boys," the feisty wedding planner claps her hands thrice. "Time to hit the altar. Let's go."
"Oh, shit." Luca blanches. "What if I faint when I see her? I don't wanna ruin today. Shit, I'm going to faint right now."
"Luca." Papa lightly slaps him on his cheek. "Pull yourself together. We Monaro men are strong and confident."
"Fuck, yeah." Antonio agrees. "And women." He winks at his daughter and she giggles when he taps her chubby cheek.
I rub Luca's back as he takes deep breaths. I give him a tight hug before we exit the suite.
Izzy and Luca chose the beach as their venue. There's a big, circular arch where they'll say 'I do'. A white carpet and white Calla lilies leading the way.
