I've just started at UA. I find myself standing outside of class 1-As classroom door. I look up in wonder because the door is really tall and I wonder who is in this class. Giants? I hear banging and yelling coming from inside. Yup. Definitely giants.

I walk into the class and to my surprise, I don't see giants, but fellow students who are somewhat tall or short.

I notice a tall boy with blue hair raging at another boy with blonde hair.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?! GET YOUR FEET OFF THE DESK BAKUGO!"

"What do I care? And what are you going to do about it? You don't have any power over me."

The blue-haired boy raises his hand to smack the other boy but then puts it back down in defeat. He sighs and walks away from the blonde-haired boy who I now know is Bakugo.

All of a sudden I see a teacher slinking in like a caterpillar inside of a bright yellow sleeping bag.

I wonder to myself who this rando could be. Then he stands up and introduces himself as Mr. Aizawa. Our homeroom teacher. I feel my cheeks heat up with embarrassment as I go to take my seat. But then Aizawa calls on me since he knows I'm a new student.

"You. New kid. Introduce yourself to the class." He instructs in a monotone voice.

I stand there for a moment to regain my thoughts. Then I walk up to the front of the classroom.

"Hi. My name is (y/n). My quirk is being able to produce a steam screen at will." I feel my quirk activating in embarrassment. "Oh. Yeah." I stammer. "Sometimes, when I'm embarrassed or nervous steam comes out of my ears." I finish up and quickly take the first empty seat I can find.

I notice a boy beside me with half-red and half-white hair. I also notice that he has a scar around his left eye. I wonder who he is and how he got that scar. He catches me staring at him and I look away. Steam coming out of my ears once again. I put my backpack over my head to try and hide it but unfortunately, it expands from the steam.

A voice comes from another part of the classroom. "Hey AIRHEAD! Why don't you show us what you got?" The voice begins to laugh and I'm even more embarrassed causing my backpack to explode from the steam building up inside of it.

The blonde boy continues laughing. Then the boy sitting beside me comes over to me to help.

"(Y/N), are you okay?" He holds out a hand to me, his eyes filled with concern for me.

My face turns to a deeper shade of red causing more steam to come out of my ears and unfortunately for me, it also comes out of my nose.

Mr. Aizawa asks me to step outside. "Hey. Kid. Your quirk is turning my homeroom into a sauna. You mind stepping outside to collect yourself and we can air out the room?" His monotone voice asks you.

I cover my face and run out the door. Not before creating a steam screen to hide behind. Internally screaming as I try to find a place to hide and calm down.

I hear footsteps running behind me but I don't stop. Not until I reach a bathroom. I run in and lock the door behind me. I'm so embarrassed that I can't control my quirk and turn the bathroom into a steam room.

I hear a gentle knock on the door.

"GO AWAY!" I call out. I don't want to be seen by anyone. Tears stream down my cheeks as the steam fills the room. But I hear another soft tapping at the bathroom door. I hesitantly walk over to the door and put my hand up to it.

"Hey, (y/n). Are you okay? I noticed how difficult your first day at UA has been so far. I want to help. But I can't do that if you don't unlock the door and come out here." I hear a gentle monotone voice say to me. I reach my hand out to unlock the door but then a thought occurs to me.

"How do I know you're not trying to trick me so that you can laugh at me?" I ask the voice. I've always had a hard time trusting people.

"I know you have no reason to trust me right now. I don't blame you. Not with how Bakugo was treating you. I just want to help. I know how it feels to be in this situation. The feeling of not being able to control your quirk. I've been in this type of position before. I want to help you. But I can't do that if you don't open the door (y/n)."

I take a deep breath and feel my body begin to cleanse itself of the steam that has been building inside of me. I untwist the lock and open the door. Steam burst out of the room and onto a boy's face. It's him again. The boy with half-white and half-red hair. The boy who offered his help earlier.

"S... Sorry. Are you okay? I'm so sorry I didn't mean to do that." My embarrassment returns full force and the steam bursts out of my ears as I apologize profusely.

Suddenly I feel a pair of arms around me and I start to feel calmer. My breathing begins to steady itself and my body doesn't feel as warm. On the contrary, it actually felt cooler. I wonder how this is possible when I look up and see that this boy is cooling me down. I wonder how this is happening.

Startled, I jump back.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you. You looked like you were overheating. I understand. Sometimes school can be overwhelming."

I feel my body begin to stop shaking.

"I don't think I've properly introduced myself. I'm Shoto Todoroki. But just call me Todoroki for short."

I nod as Todoroki gently removes his arms from my waist.

"Now. Are you alright?"

"I think so... But... Why are you being so kind to me? We... We don't even know each other." I manage to sputter out.

"Let's just say you looked like you could use a friend." He answers. I start breaking down in tears once more and I feel my knees collapse as I fall to the ground. I feel Todoroki's eyes on me and soon his warm arms are around me once again.

"I'm so sorry. Did I say something wrong? I didn't mean to say anything to bother you." He asks.

I begin crying even harder. No one has ever been this kind to me before and I don't know how to handle it. Then I feel my eyelids begin to become heavy. No. I can't be falling asleep in this boy's arms. We hardly know each other. I shoot up to a standing position.

"I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me. I guess... It's just... Well... Just that... Uh... No one has ever been this kind to me before." I take a deep breath as I calm myself down. "I've never been able to trust people before because everyone has been so mean to me before. Like that boy with blonde hair. He was so cruel." I start shaking again.

"Bakugo. Look. I'm sorry about him. He's an ass. But he can be cool when you get to know him. But I'll make sure he doesn't keep bothering you. He may be able to produce explosions with his quirk but he's outmatched when it comes to my quirk. Half-hot, half-cold. I can freeze people and objects with my right side. But with my left side, I'm able to produce fire if I need to. I don't really use that side much though unless I have to."

"Why? Oh! WAIT! SORRY! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO TELL ME THAT'S FINE! I'M SORRY! Me and my big mouth."

"Don't worry about it (y/n). It's okay. It's okay. Calm down. Shh. It's okay. It's okay."

He keeps quietly whispering reassurance to me as he gently sits me down on a nearby bench. I calm down again.

"Thank you Todoroki. No one's ever been this nice to me. You know what?"

"What is it (y/n)?"

"I think I'm ready to go back into class now."

"Are you sure? You don't have to push yourself to do anything that you don't want to do."

"I'm sure. I'm ready."

"Okay. Oh. Look at the time. It's time for English (Japanese). Present Mic is in the classroom already. We better hurry. We're gonna be late." Todoroki explains to me.

I nod as he takes me by the hand and pulls me into the classroom. We both quickly take our seats as Present Mic is taking roll. I breathe a sigh of relief. Realizing we weren't late.

This was an awkward first day for me at UA. But it can only get better from here, right?
