Todoroki x Y/N: Femme Reader

13: Nightmare

I'm sleeping peacefully with Todoroki beside me. His arms wrapped securely around me. But my peace doesn't last long. I begin to have a nightmare. First, I see my dad die again right in front of me. I see how he was stabbed to death. I feel the pain of losing him all over again. Then I see my mom drinking the night away because she can't figure out any other way to deal with the pain. I see all the times we had to move. I see all the times that I wasn't able to make any friends because of how often we had to move. Then I see Bakugou and his explosions. I see all the debris falling. I see the piece of ceiling that landed on my leg again. A shooting pain goes through my leg all over again.

I jolt up in a cold sweat and panting. I sigh. It was just a bad dream. Then I feel Todoroki sit up beside me.

"(Y/n)? What's wrong? You look shaken up. You're sweating."

"I'm fine Todoroki. I promise. I'm fine. It was just a nightmare. Go back to sleep." Tears begin to fill my eyes but I try to wipe them away before Todoroki can notice them. But being Todoroki, he notices anyway. He pulls me into his lap.

"Hey. It's okay. It was just a nightmare. None of it was real. It's okay. I'm here."

"It felt so real. I... I want to talk about it. Maybe that will help."

"Okay, Snowflake. Only tell me what you feel comfortable sharing."

"Okay. *sniffle* It... It started with my dad. Remember when I told you that he died when I was little? There's something I never told you. Never told anyone really. I... I saw how he died. I watched as he was stabbed to death. He was one of the top heroes and he was brutally murdered in cold blood. (I start crying again) Then... Then it changed. *sob* I... I saw my mom getting drunk to deal with the pain of losing her husband. Then it changed again. I saw all the times that my mom and I had to move. I saw all the times that I wasn't able to make any friends because of how often we had to move. Finally, I saw one last thing."

"What is it, princess?"

"I saw Bakugou and his explosions. I saw the pieces of the building coming down because of them. Then... I saw the piece of the ceiling that landed on my leg again and I felt the pain. I felt it in my leg again. It was awful."

"Oh. Baby. Love. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of that. I had no idea. But I'm here now. I'm here to be with you through the good times and the bad. Whatever you need (Y/N). I'm here for you. Whether it's a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or you need some advice, I'm here. I'm here to support you. No matter what."

"Thank you, Todoroki. You're the best boyfriend ever. I... I think I'm ready to try and go back to sleep."

"Are you sure? I don't want you to rush anything if you're not certain that you're ready."

"I'm ready Peppermint. Could you please just hold me and maybe stroke my hair again? It makes me feel safe and warm when you do that."

"Of course, I can (Y/N). And don't worry. I won't fall asleep before you do. I'll wait until you're asleep."

"Thank you, Shoto."

"You're welcome Snowflake. Now lay down and just try to relax. I'll be here when you wake up."

"Okay."

I lay back down as Todoroki holds me with one arm and strokes my hair with his other hand. I feel so sleepy and relaxed. I feel safe and warm. My eyelids begin to droop. My breathing becomes slower and deeper. I yawn as my eyes close and I fall asleep. This time, I sleep peacefully for the rest of the night.
