4: Cavalry Battle

After 15 minutes passed, I'm on a team with Todoroki, Iida, and Mina Ashido.

Iida goes over the reasons why he chose each of you. Of course, he chose me because I could make it harder for other players to see us through my steam. He chose Mina for her acid quirk, and Todoroki for his fire and ice quirk.

"Just one thing Iida. Whenever I'm in battle, I never use my left side." Todoroki explained in his cute monotone voice.

But we all get into a strong formation with Todoroki on top. The four of us are off and running after Deku and his team. Three of his teammates are from our class but I don't recognize the other person on their team. I recognize Uraraka and Tokoyami, but the other person must be someone from one of the other classes.

I look up and see anger in Todoroki's face. I know he wants to prove himself to his dad, but I don't think that this is the way to do it. We're allowed to use our quirks, but what if someone gets badly hurt? Recovery Girl can't take care of too many people at once. She's only one hero.

I want to try and reason with Shoto but don't know how to. I notice that he's starting to snag other people's scarves as well. Iida is trying different evasive tactics to keep everyone else's scarves safe. I know that me and Todoroki are worth a lot of points so it makes sense that Iida would want to keep the two of us safe. I use my steam quirk to blind our opponents and steal their scarves as much as possible.

By the halfway point of the battle, I'm already wearing six scarves around my neck. I don't know how many more I can fit on myself. Luckily, Shoto has 5 scarves so that will increase how many points our team is worth.

We're nearing the end of the battle. Todoroki instructs Iida to go after Midroriya again. I'm scared of what might happen. What if Shoto freezes Midoriya so bad that he kills him? I try to keep my mind from jumping to worst-case scenarios. Our team is getting close to Midoriya's team. I hope that Shoto is able to grab Midoriya's scarf, but at the same time, I worry that someone's going to get hurt.

There are only thirty seconds left in the challenge. Todoroki and Midoriya are both trying to get at each other's scarves. With only ten seconds left go, Midoriya successfully snags Todoroki's scarf and the buzzer goes off. Team Midoriya won. When me, Todoroki, and Mina get down off of Iida, I notice even more anger within Todoroki. I can sense it. He may not always show his emotions, but I can feel the frustration radiating off of him. I put a hand on his shoulder but he shrugs it off.

"SHOTO!" I call out. "I know you're angry. I understand that. But please. There are better ways of dealing with it. I know how important this festival is to you. Believe me. It's important to me too. Come with me. Let me help you. Just like you've done for me. Please Shoto. Please. Don't take things out on Deku. I know you. You have a good heart. Please. Just, come with me. We'll figure something out. Please. Shoto." I plead and I sob. Falling to my knees again just like I did that first day at UA.

Everyone is shocked to see me on my knees. I don't hear any screaming. I take that as a good sign. At least today is the last day of the festival until tomorrow when we all face the final challenge. I run towards the door and race to the school to go to my dorm so I can have some time alone. But then my feet are stuck to the ground. Correction. They're frozen to the ground. I turn my head.

"Shoto?" I choke out between sobs.

"I'm sorry (Y/N). You're right. There are better ways to deal with my anger. Please. You offered to have me come with you. Let me take you up on that. Maybe we can help each other." He unfreezes the ground so I'm free to go. I smile and pull him into a chaste hug. He's shocked. He's only hugged me once or twice. But that was to comfort me. He doesn't exactly know what to do when it's this type of situation. I shyly back away and nod. He follows me and offers to take me to his dorm again.
