I cling as hard as I can to Todoroki without hurting him as he carries me to Recovery Girl. My tears are probably staining his shirt at this point.
"I'm so sorry Peppermint." I sob.
"Hey. Shh. None of that. You have nothing to be sorry about (Y/N). It's not your fault. Bakugou is the one who made the pieces of the building fall and one just happened to fall onto your leg. It's not your fault princess."
"But I'm the one who egged him on. I should've just gone with my gut and ran. I should've just tried to get to Tokoyami and get to the dummy bomb. I was so stupid."
"Hey. Hey. You may have done something that pissed him off, but that doesn't make you the one to blame. Bakugou has way too much pride. He's obsessed with being the best. Oh. Sorry. Didn't mean to rhyme. But my point still stands. Bakugou has no control over his emotions. Especially his anger and frustration. If he had kept his cool and not caused so many explosions, this wouldn't have happened."
I feel a sharp pain in my leg. "AGH!"
"What is it, love?"
"My leg. It hurts. I can't stand it."
"I know darling. I know. We're almost there. We're almost there. I promise. Everything is going to be okay love."
I keep crying into his shirt as he carries me. Eventually, becoming so tired that I fall asleep in his arms despite the pain. I only wake up when I hear Todoroki knocking on Recovery Girl's office door.
"Come in. Oh. Dear. What happened here?"
I'm sure she's noticed my red puffy eyes.
"It's (Y/N). We were training with All Might and Bakugou got carried away again. He couldn't control his anger. His explosions caused a piece of the ceiling to fall and (Y/N) couldn't move out of the way in time. It ended up falling onto her leg."
"Oh, dear. I see. Well, you just lay her here on the bed and I'll see what we're dealing with here."
He puts me down gently on the bed. Trying not to cause me any more pain.
"You need to stand back Shoto dear. I need to get an X-Ray of her body."
"Of course, ma'am. Whatever you need to do. I just want to make sure that she's okay."
He steps aside as Recovery Girl takes an X-Ray. Then the image pops up on the screen.
"Oh, dear. It's worse than I thought. One of the bones in your right leg is completely shattered. Luckily the other just has a clean break."
*Gasp* "What? A... Are you sure?"
"I'm afraid so dearie."
"There has to be something you can do."
"Well, there is one thing I can do to at least get the shattered bones out of her leg."
"What is it?"
"I'll have to do surgery to get those bone shards out. Just like I did for that young Midoriya when he broke the bones in his fingers."
"S... Surgery? Ma'am... Isn't there another way?" You plead.
"I'm afraid not. Unless you want the shattered bone pieces attaching themselves to the bone that has a clean break."
"Okay. Do it then. If that's what it will take to get my back on my feet."
"Dear, I'm afraid it's not that simple. With the break in your other bone, you will still have to be in a cast and in a wheelchair for a few weeks. And you'll have to come to see me once a week to get that bone healed."
"I understand." I sob.
"Unfortunately, because of the surgery, young Todoroki must not be in the room while I work."
"NO! I WANT HIM HERE! I LOVE HIM! AND I'M SO SCARED! HE HAS TO STAY!"
"I'm sorry dearie but it's a fairly gruesome procedure. I wouldn't want to expose him to that. Plus, you'll be asleep the whole time. You won't feel a thing."
"Okay. If that's what needs to be done for her recovery. I'll step outside and wait."
"Shoto. Please don't leave me. I'm so scared."
"I know you're scared. But I promise I'll be right outside the door waiting for you. I'll come back in when Recovery Girl is done and I'll wait right next to you for you to wake up. I love you Snowflake. I promise I'll be thinking about you and praying for you to pull through. I love you (Y/N)."
"I love you too Peppermint."
"Alright. It's time for you to step out young Shoto."
"Yes ma'am. I love you Snowflake."
"I love you too."
He kisses my forehead and walks out the door.
"Okay, dear. Now I need you to put on this mask and just take some deep breaths in and out for me."
"Okay."
She puts the mask on over my nose as I take some deep breaths. And I'm asleep before I know it.
