After a couple of weeks of adjusting to life at UA, I've begun to become more comfortable around everyone and even start making friends. Well, I have two friends now at least.

I've been tending to stick close to Todoroki because he was my first friend here and I still wasn't totally comfortable with everyone. But then he introduced me to a boy with green hair. His name is Izuku Midoriya. But he said to call him Deku. I don't know why he asks me to do that, but I don't ask, not wanting to pry into his life.

The three of us become close friends. I always try to get myself paired with either of them during training with All Might. Everyone seems to see the advantage to my quirk but I still have no control over it when I'm nervous or embarrassed.

One day during hero vs. villain training I start to flub up the mission.

"Shoto. Can you hear me? Where are you? I think Iida is gonna capture me soon. Shoto!"

Unfortunately, Iida hears me and he brings me into where the dummy bomb is. He starts rambling and monologuing to me. Truly embracing the role of the villain. I don't know what to do so I try to call Todoroki again. But I get no response.

But all of a sudden, I feel the room getting really cold. I exhale and see my breath in the air. I have a feeling that Shoto is there somewhere. I thank God that I was wearing shoes because I know that if I try to pry my feet up from the floor my skin won't peel off the bottom of my feet. I see that Iida is struggling to activate his quirk. But he breaks free. But then...

"It would be unwise to try and escape my ice quirk. I could freeze you and kill you within seconds if your body succumbs to hypothermia. Of course, I'm not actually going to kill you. But let us claim the bomb in the name of the heroes."

"HAHAHA! YOU REALLY THINK THAT I'D LET THAT HAPPEN, HERO?! IF YOU WANT TO CLAIM THE BOMB, YOU'LL HAVE TO GO THROUGH ME!" Iida screamed.

I roll my eyes as I find Iida to be over the top.

"Fine. You leave me no choice." Todoroki starts freezing Iida with ice that's stronger than before. When he's finished he walks over to the bomb and touches it. Claiming it for the heroes.

After claiming the bomb for the heroes, I notice Todoroki putting his left hand to the bomb. I instantly feel the temperature rise within the room. Everything starts melting. Iida is surprised to learn that not only can Todoroki freeze things, but he can also heat things up. I'm secretly impressed and sort of surprised. I've never seen him use that side of his body before. I've only seen him use his ice quirk. As my body warms up I quickly jump up to a standing position since I had been knocked down by Iida moments before. While Iida walks away Todoroki walks over to me.

"Are you alright? I thought I warned you to go outside. I knew it would be dangerous to have you in here if I had to use my ice quirk. I could have killed you (y/n). So why?" I notice the tone of concern in his voice.

"First of all Shoto, you didn't say anything about staying outside. Second of all, I do have my steam quirk that could have warmed things up for me, had I needed it. I'm not weak Shoto. I'm pretty tough when it comes down to it. But, I'm sorry for worrying you. I should have exercised more caution. I should've maintained my cover better than I did. I'm sorry Shoto." I explain as I feel tears stinging my eyes.

I feel the warm touch of Todoroki's left hand on my shoulder. "It's alright. I understand that you can handle yourself. I suppose I should be apologizing as well. I shouldn't have raised my voice at you like that. I guess I was worried about you because you're my friend. I care about my friends and I don't want to see them getting hurt." He explains.

I start to laugh through my tears. "I guess we're both a couple of goofballs, huh?" I joke.

"A... Goofball?" This innocent boy.

"It's a term of endearment. It just means we're both kinda silly sometimes." I explain as I try not to giggle.

"Oh. I understand now." He chuckles as the two of us walk out of the building side by side to go over what the four of us did during the exercise and learn how we can improve.

Once that's over, Deku, Todoroki, and I head to lunch and sit together as usual. But then a girl with short brown hair sits beside me. I'm uncomfortable at first. I start to become nervous but I try to take some deep breaths so that I don't create steam and accidentally burn this girl.

"Hi. You're the new kid with the steam quirk right? It's really cool. My name's Ochaco Uraraka. I can remove gravity from any object I touch. Of course, I can't overdo it, much like your quirk, mine can have serious downsides to it."

I laugh nervously and look over at the boys. My eyes widen, trying to signal a plea for help. Todoroki doesn't understand what's going on with me but luckily Deku catches on and tries to change the subject.

"That's cool Uraraka, but maybe we should be talking about something else. Or we could just not talk and eat in silence. That could work too I guess." He's pretty unsuccessful because he's just spouting word vomit at this point. I look to Todoroki, mouthing to him that I need help. He realizes what's going on.

"(Y/N), do you need a minute? Why don't we step outside for a minute and get some air?"

I feel relieved that he understands, and I nod. The two of us walk out as I hear Uraraka asking if she had said something wrong. As soon as we walk out of the cafeteria, I release the breath I didn't realize I had been holding.

"Are you alright?" Todoroki inquires.

"Yeah. I think so. Thank you for getting me out of there Todoroki. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. Tell you what, to make it up to you, how about we hang out tonight? We can do whatever you want, my treat."

"Are you sure this is something you want to do (Y/L/N)? I don't want you to feel obligated to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or awkward."

"I'm sure Todo. Let me do this for you. You were my first friend here. Actually, you're my first real friend ever."

"Why is that?"

"Well, as I said, I've had trouble trusting people. But it's more than that though. Ever since my dad died, my mom hasn't been able to hold a steady job until now. We had to move around a lot. We never stuck in one place very long. Eventually, I saw that it was pointless to try and make any friends. I knew that I was just going to have to leave them in the end. I was just the loner kid most of my life."

Todoroki places his fingers gently upon my face. He wipes away the tears I hadn't realized had escaped my eyes.

"I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. And how hard life has been for you. It's been unfair. But I'm glad that you've become my friend."

Then Bakugo walks up to the pair of us.

"HEY AIR-"

He's stopped mid-remark by someone slapping him. I open my eyes. Huh? My eyes were closed?  I think to myself. Either way, when my eyes open, I see, not Todoroki standing in front of Bakugo, but Deku. He's yelling at Bakugo as I turn into Shoto's arms, steam pouring out of my ears and tears streaming down my face out of fear and embarrassment. I close my eyes again as tight as I can. Suddenly, I feel myself being picked up by someone and being carried somewhere. I don't open my eyes for as long as possible. I don't know what's going on. Then I feel my body being placed down gently on something soft. Hesitantly, I open one (Y/E/C) eye and see something red and white moving around. A realization hits me. Todoroki must've brought me somewhere.

I begin to relax, and my eyelids begin to droop. It's been an exhausting day. Mentally, emotionally, and physically. I try to stifle a yawn, but I end up falling asleep. Soft dreams come to mind as I peacefully drift off to sleep.
