Rose's POV

I led Spencer and Cyrus to the old castle where Vicky and Kira were waiting for us.

"What took you so long?" Vicky asked, crossing her arms.

"It's a long story," I muttered.

"No, it isn't. Rose got ambushed by Hawk and Ling Ling. Spencer got her out of there, and now here we are," Cyrus said bluntly.

Vicky shot me a sharp glare.

"Thanks, Cyrus," I said sarcastically.

"No problem," he replied, unfazed by my irritation.

"Anyway, do you have them?" Kira asked, shifting the conversation.

"Yep," Spencer said, pulling a small bag from his pocket.

Vicky, Kira, and I exchanged confused glances.

"Where are they?" Vicky asked, skeptical.

"In here," Cyrus answered casually.

"Cyrus, I'm not stupid. How can mimosa pollen, a dragon scale, vixen hair, a baneberry, and a viper tongue fit inside that tiny bag?" she questioned.

"It's enchanted," Cyrus explained.

Spencer reached into the bag, his arm disappearing into its depths. One by one, he pulled out the mimosa pollen, dragon scale, vixen hair, baneberry, and viper's tongue.

"Cool!" I said, impressed.

"So that's all of them, right?" Spencer asked.

"There are only three more things we need," Kira told him.

"Which ones?" he asked.

"The amethyst, a tear of sadness, and the wands," I listed.

"We should get the gemstone tomorrow since it's already late, and the dragon guarding it is strongest at night," Vicky suggested.

We all agreed, but deep inside, I felt a strange unease growing. Something about this mission, about everything I was doing, felt... off. But I shook the thought away. I had a job to do.

Astoria's POV

"The Shadow Realm is a dark place meant for the most dangerous villains of all time. Once banished there, they could never escape. While they retain their magic, they need a special potion to break free," I read aloud from the book.

"How come we've never heard of it before?" Joy asked.

"Probably because it was created ages ago, and now the teachers use the portal to banish villains to Earth instead," Ling Ling suggested, and I nodded in agreement.

"So whoever Rose is trying to break out must be worse than the Snow Queen. And we all know how powerful she was," Shawn said grimly.

"Not to mention Rose's new evil friends... and boyfriend," Travis added.

"Travis!" the four of us groaned in unison.

We turned to look at Hawk, who sat by the window, silent and withdrawn. We knew he didn't want to talk about that.

"Oh, right," Travis muttered, realizing his mistake.

Hawk turned his head, catching us staring at him. "What?" he asked.
