Rose's POV
The world lurched as the teleportation magic wore off, and the three of us reappeared in front of a massive, crumbling castle ruin.
Kira frowned, glancing around at the overgrown vines, cracked stone walls, and shattered windows.
"Uh... where are we?" she asked.
I folded my arms. "No idea."
Vicky muttered something under her breath as she studied the ruins. Clearly, even she hadn't planned for this.
With nothing else to do, we split up and started exploring the remains of the castle. The halls were filled with old statues, faded paintings, and dust-covered relics. It felt like walking through a forgotten time.
"This place looks abandoned," Kira said.
Vicky rolled her eyes. "Thanks for stating the obvious."
I walked ahead, entering a large chamber lined with shelves of glass bottles, cauldrons, and old books. The air smelled like herbs and something rotting.
I smirked. "Hey, guys, I think you might wanna see this."
Vicky and Kira stepped inside and immediately looked around in awe.
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Vicky asked.
"If you're thinking we should brew the potion here, then yes," Kira replied.
"But shouldn't we let Spencer and Cyrus know where we are?" I asked, suddenly uneasy.
Vicky waved dismissively. "They'll be fine. What we need to focus on is getting the last five ingredients."
"Four," I corrected.
Both of them turned toward me in confusion.
"One of the ingredients is light from a full moon. That means we have to wait for a full moon before finishing the potion," I said, crossing my arms.
Vicky groaned. "How did I miss that?"
I smirked. "Not the only thing you're missing."
Her eyes flashed in irritation. "What was that?"
"Nunya," I said casually.
Vicky blinked. "Nunya?"
I grinned. "None ya business."
Vicky's hands clenched into fists. "Alright, that's it. You've been annoying me since the moment I met you, Cinder—"
I rolled my eyes and walked away, but something about Vicky's words stuck with me.
"You've been annoying me for a long time."
...But I'd only met her today.
And then there was that blue-haired boy at Swan Lake.
He had recognized me.
Why?
Kira's POV
The second Rose left the room, I turned to Vicky, lowering my voice.
"What the heck, Vic? If you had finished that sentence, she would've realized something's wrong."
Vicky rolled her eyes. "First of all, don't call me Vic. Second, I can't help it! She still has that annoying face, and I just—ugh!"
I sighed. "Vicky, she's one of us now. Stop acting like she's still your enemy."
