Kid's POV

"Spirit I know you're mad but please st-" I tried telling Spirit to stay out of it, but next thing I knew Spirit punched Joseph, and I somehow I felt it too.

"Oww!" Joseph and I said in unison. We were both surprised by what he had done.

"That's for hurting my daughter!" Spirit yelled at Joseph, and then Spirit turned to me. "And since you felt that too, that's for screwing my daughter before you two were married!" My eyes widened and my cheeks turned red.

"H-h-ow did you-" I stuttered in surprise, unable to finish my sentence.

"I didn't you just told me." Spirit said in an angry tone.

"God I hate that trick...." I muttered.

TWO DAYS LATER

JOSEPH'S POV

"I still can't believe I lost to Kid the other day...." I muttered. I was alone in what was now Kid and Maka's guest bedroom, that used to be Liz and Patty's room. I thought back to the fight on the land of lost souls, where I had lived around a year of my life in hiding.

Kid was able to dodge my every attack and still managed use his reaper powers flawlessly. He made it out with only scratch on his face.

I decided to take a walk through Death City. With each turn I felt more and more lost. I hadn't been in Death City for a year, and even then I didn't get much time to look around here. Before that, I hadn't been here since first grade.

I gave up on finding my way on my own and grabbed my phone to put it on GPS to help me find my way around. While I was busy looking down at my phone, I accidentally ran into a girl, and several papers flew out of her hands and onto the ground around us.

"I'm so sorry!" I said. "I was too busy looking at my phone to see you. I should have been watching where I was going."

"It's fine, really! It's my fault, too. I shouldn't have had my nose in my phone." the girl I had hit apologized. I kneeled down to help her grab the papers dropped, and when they had all been picked up by the two of us, I handed the ones I picked up to her and looked at her face for the first time.

Her eyes were a light brown, her hair was a darker brown that went down about 3 inches past the shoulder. Her face had no pimples or blemishes and was perfectly tanned.

"M-My name's Joseph." I told her.

"My name's Payton. It's nice to meet you." she greeted back with a smile, and she looked on the screen of my phone. "Are you lost?"

"Y-yeah.... See I haven't actually gone around Death City since I was seven when I ran away from home..... Apparently I gave my twin brother a really bad symmetry fetish when I left...." I told her.

"Is your twin brother Death the Kid?" Payton asked.

"Yeah..." I said and averted my gaze. I wished that there could be just one person in Death City who didn't know my brother's name.

"I hate that guy..." Payton said I looked back up to her in surprise.

"Really?" I asked. "Why?"

"Because...a couple of years ago, at the annual DWMA party, he kept freaking out because people were messing up the place, then he went to the balcony for a while, then shortly after he came back in, someone brought beer to the party and he probably freaking called y'all's dad and told him about the beer and the party got cut short after we were all only there for 45 minutes!" Payton exclaimed.

"Really? Kid doesn't seem like the type to snitch, he seems like a guy who would try and do things on his own." I pointed out.

"Are you trying to defend him?" Payton asked, giving me a death glare.

"No, I'm just pointing out that it doesn't seem like him. I bet someone was holding him back from getting onto you guys...." I replied.

"Probably Black Star..." Payton said. And giggled. "Do you want me to show you around so you don't get lost again?"

"Sure!" I accepted happily. Who could turn down a pretty face like hers?
