Hey guys for those of you who don't already know, I'm also writing a Fairy Tail fanfic. ALso, I'm really sorry for how long its taken me to update this, I've been meaning to for a while, I just haven't had the time to do a decent chapter, and when I do I don't know what to write. This fanfic is actually almost over anyways, mainly because my schedule is about to be extremely booked next semester for school. I'm going to try to get to updating this story a few more times, but it's not going to be easy, since I'm booked every day of the week next semester because I'm going to get a job so I can pay for gas for the car I just got yesterday (I'm pretty excited about that). I hope you guys don't mind too much that it's going to probably be a while before I can update again after Christmas break is over, but I won't be able to help that. Anyways, here's the chapter.
Kid's POV
When I got home, I saw Maka's mom back at our house.
"So you're back?" I asked her. "Maka is at Stein's place, but she should be here in an hour or so."
"That's fine. I just want to talk to her." She told me.
"Well, if you want, you could come in." I told her. "Make yourself at home." We walked into the living room and sat down.
"Thank you, Kid." She replied. "I'm sorry about earlier if that confused you. To be honest, I don't know what came over me myself."
"Your mind was temporarily being controlled by my mother, actually." I told her. "I know I always wanted to know who she was but now I wish all that was still a secret."
"When did you find out about Sierra?" She asked me.
"I met her just after Maka and I had gotten married. I didn't find out she was my mom until earlier today, just before I bumped into you." I explained. "It's crazy how much has happened today. It seems like stuff like this would take at least a month to happen and it all happened within 24 hours."
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"Well, first Spirit came into the death room saying my mother was alive and controlling him, then he collapsed, so I took him to Stein who explained everything about my mom and told me Spirit had a heart attack, then I ran into you, then I had to get to the DWMA to get a hold of everyone, then we had to go save the kids, then Joseph died and my soul became one again and all that crap, we killed Sierra, and now Mikey has memory loss." I said. As I realized just how much happened today, a wave if exhaustion blew over me. "It's been a pretty long day for me."
"I can tell" She chuckled. I heard the lock turn at the door, and Maka walked in with Gerard and Mikey, and I walked over to the front door.
"I thought you weren't going to be home for another hour." I stated.
"Stein gave Mikey something to boost his memory, but really couldn't do more than that." Maka told me. "So I checked up on Papa, thanked Stein and left."
"How's Spirit doing?" I asked.
"He seems to be fine considering what happened." Maka said.
"Well that's good I guess." I said. "By the way your mom is in the living room."
"Why?" Maka asked.
"She wants to talk to you." I told her.
Maka's POV
All of a sudden I didn't want to see my mother. For over twenty years I've wanted her back, but after all that had happened and how long she's been gone, I didn't think I needed her in my life. I didn't care enough to want to talk to her, not after the day I've had at least. I would have no choice but to pass the living room to get up to the room Kid and I shared, but I wasn't planning on saying a word to her, or even listening to her.
I had no clue why I suddenly didn't want this. Maybe it was just my exhaustion after the day I've had, or really for the past 16 years spent solely searching for my kids. I didn't know how I would feel about this in the morning, but right now I couldn't care less.
"Maka I-" my mom started when I walked through the living room.
"I don't want to talk right now." I told her, walking up the stairs. "you can stay here tonight but I'm really just not up for talking right now." I went up the stairs with the boys following and I showed them to the guest bedroom, since we didn't have a room prepared for them yet. After that, I went to my own bedroom.
Kid's POV
Maka handled her mother coming back a lot differently than I had expected to her to. When we were in school, I remembered how she always said no matter what she loved her mother, but that looked more like she didn't even care that she existed.
"What was all that about?" I asked Maka.
"What do you mean?" Maka replied.
"You just turning down the first opportunity you've had to talk to your mom in 20 years." I said.
"I'm just not in the mood for talking to her right now." Maka answered.
"I don't buy that." I told her. "I'm willing to bet it's about the fact that she hasn't talked to you in 20 years with the exception of post cards."
"Okay, your right. So what? That's not going to change anything." Maka said. "It's not like you wouldn't feel the same if your mom suddenly decided to talk to you now."
"I'm never going to have to worry abfout that, I can say that much." I told her. "She wanted me dead from the moment I was born."
"By the way," Maka started. "earlier you told me you would tell me that you would say what else Stein told you about Sierra. What was that about?"
"Are you trying to change the topic?" I chuckled.
"Maybe." Maka replied. "Well, there's really just the fact that it just popped into my head that you never explained that to me."
"Well, Stein and I were talking earlier when I took Spirit there, and I told him everything that happened, how he said my mother was controlling him." I started.
"I thought we changed topics from mothers..." Maka said.
"Just listen. He told me when my mom 'died' it was because him and Spirit were tasked with getting rid of her and get me back to my father when I was born which actually failed and she split my soul in half before they reached her, which created Joseph." I told her.
"How does this tie in with my question?" Maka asked me.
"I'm getting to that." I told her. "Anyways, he said that she was going to try and get Joseph to kill my father when we got older, and I assume there was a change in plans there or something. I asked him how all of it related to Spirit, and he said that she escaped them the same way Lady Medusa escaped them in the whole kishin business. When I asked him why he didn't say anything sooner he said the exact words 'I didn't want anyone getting hyped up about something that could've been nothing. This is the first time I've heard anything of the possibility of Sierra being alive!"
"It could be a different Sierra though, right?" I Maka asked hesitantly, and I shook my head.
"When he said that, I was kind of shocked, and I asked him if he had a picture of her anywhere. He said he didn't know if there were any with her in there, and a bit later he said I could dig through some old pictures, so I did. It's the same one." I told her.
"So when you said you never had to worry about your mother suddenly wanting to talk to you you were dead serious." Maka said.
"Yup. Hard to believe I'm actually related to her." There was a long pause after I said that, until I said something again. "It's pretty late. We should probably get to sleep."
The next morning
I woke up with a note next to me where Maka should have been, and I looked at it weirdly.
That's weird, Maka never leaves a note here. I thought. She usually would just wake me up to tell me if she was leaving, since she normally wouldn't leave before I was about to get up anyways, if she left at all.
I picked the note up and it only had one sentence on it:
I'm taking my daughter back
