Hey guys sorry for taking longer than I meant to to update (I meant to update it by Sunday, but that obviously didn't happen). Anyway, this account officially only has one admin now, since the other admin never wants to help with writing or anything. So thanks to that, I may only be able to update every couple of weeks, since I have indoor drumline and archery and drill team and my relationship all taking up my time this semester. I'm hoping I can at least post a few longer than normal chapters at least, but I can't promise too much. anyway, here's the chapter.
Maka's POV
I didn't have a clue what was going on when I woke up. I was in an unfamiliar bed in an unfamiliar room, with no window. I walked out of the room, and instantly recognized the room, but I couldn't determine where it was from. For some reason the room oddly reminded me of Soul. It had red curtains lining parts of the walls, and the floors were black and white, like a diner. I looked around, but the entire area all looked the same. I found a plain white door and opened it, and the place completely changed.
I guess I didn't actually wake up... I thought as I saw the porch of the house I lived in before my parents separted, and two kids around nine years old were sitting on the porch. When I took a closer look, I realized it was Kid and I when we were younger, and this was a memory. The sun was starting to hang low in the sky, and Kid looked at it like he just wanted to be somewhere else.
"Hey Maka?" Kid said, breaking a long silence.
"What is it, Kid?" the younger me replied.
"Have you ever thought of running away from home?" Kid asked me.
"No way, I'm not stupid. I'd get caught way too fast, and I don't think I could survive out there on my own." The younger me answered.
"What if you weren't alone?" Kid asked.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean..." Kid started, turning a little pinkish. "Maybe we could run away together, or something..."
"Why would you run away?" younger me asked.
"It's just-" Kid sounded like he wanted to spill something to my younger self, but he held back from saying anything, and then looked like he had to think of something to say other than that. "I want to find out who my mom is, but my dad won't tell me anything, other than the fact that she died in childbirth down in Tokoyo. I was thinking... Maybe I could get answers if I went down there..."
"Don't be ridiculous, Kid. Why does it matter so much who your mom is? Maybe the reason your dad doesn't tell you anything about her is because he's sensitive to the topic or something. Besides, what reason would I have to run away, too?"
"Your the one that's been complaining about your parents fighting for several weeks in a row, and the fact that you saw your dad cheat on your mom. Do you really want to be there if your parents get a divorce?" Kid asked.
"I'd rather be living with divorced parents than in the streets!" the younger me said. "Besides, neither of us know for sure whats going to happen with my parents."
"You don't have to come with me, you know." Kid said. "But whether you come or not, I'm leaving."
"Please don't leave, Kid..." The younger me said. "Your the only real friend I have....."
"Maka, you know your my only friend, too. That's why I'm asking you to come with me. Nothing you say is going to change my mind. If your coming with me then meet me by the big oak tree in the park tomorrow morning." Kid said, and stood up. "Now if you don't mind me leaving, I have to choose what to take with me. And please don't tell Spirit about this, or you know he's going to tell my dad."
