{Caylyn's POV}
Cayleigh and I are laying in my bed, on my laptop, planning our sweet 16 which is like a long time away, but its gonna sneak up on us. We should have just gotten one big room and shared it, because she always ends up falling asleep on my couch, or I'll fall asleep in hers. But I guess having space and different rooms now that we're older. "Why is he so cute?" I say looking at pictures on Derrick's Instagram on my computer because my dad took our phones. "Lord.." She says as she looks at the computer. "What?" "If you like the boy...why don't you just tell him? I see the way y'all be lookin at each other. It's obvious that the feeling's mutual." "Yeah...but there's one thing standing in the way of that?" "What?" "D-A-D-D-Y" I spell out. "Yeah...that is a problem. Talk to mom, she can talk him into it...besides, it's not like they don't know Derrick already." "So ready for our first game next week. Derrick, and the entire freshman football team will be there." "All of them?" "Yeah....which means, we gotta be on point, or we will get clowned for forever...and ever." I say dramatically."I don't know why everyone expects so much from us..." "Because we've played for one of the top AAU basketball teams in California every summer since we were six. Won championships in both 7th and 8th grade and being Colin Kaepernick's daughters means that we have some freakishly athletic powers....but that's just what I think. I could be wrong." "How did we get to be so blessed." She says sarcastically. We both get hungry and go downstairs to warm up the food we had earlier. Our dad walks in the kitchen. "What are y'all still doing up?" "We got hungry." He goes to the refrigerator and grabs a bottle of water and gulps it down with no break. "Dang...thirsty much?" Cayleigh's asks. "Little bit." He says. He throws the bottle away. "After this, I want you both in bed." "Yes sir." We both say. He gives us forehead kisses and goes upstairs.
{Colin's POV}
Next week rolls through and it's the twins first game. Before heading to their school, we swing by Cali's to pick her up from practice. The girls game doesn't start till 5:30 and we get there at 5. Demi, Dylan and I sit in the car while Cali and CJ go to the gym. "Daddy why can't I go with Cali and CJ?" "Because they're not gonna keep a good eye on you." "You guys are boring..." "Well your sisters are on their way to the car...maybe they'll take you with them. I let down the window on Demi's side as they walk up to the car. "Aren't y'all suppose to be in the gym warming up or something?" I ask. "In like 15 minutes." "What y'all doin out here...you should be gettin in your own zone." "Daddy, chill..." Cayleigh says. "Can I go back with you guys?" Dylan asks. "Yeah, come on." She gets out the car. "Keep an eye on her." Demi says. "We will." They walk off and go back into the school.
"You have got to chill, and relax." "Don't start." "I'm not starting anything. I'm just saying. They're gonna end up resenting you in a long run." "I'm not even that hard on them. Stop being so damn sensitive. Fuck." I say as I recline the seat back. She grabs her purse. "Where you goin?" "In the school." I pull her back by the shirt as she tries to get out the car. "Colin let me go." "Whatever man." I say letting her go.
I lay back and rest my eyes. I head into the school , go to the gym, pay and go find Demi and the kids. "Hey Mr. Kaepernick." Someone says. I turn and he's sitting with a bunch of guys. "....Derrick, right?" "Yes sir." "Rest of you guys on the football team." "Yeah..." They all say. "How'd you guys do this season?" "Real good...undefeated." "Nice. Maybe I'll check y'all out next year." Their eyes light up. "Sounds good." Derrick says. "See you around fellas." I go sit next to Demi and Dylan. Demi doesn't say anything when i sit down. Cali and CJ are sitting together. There's about 5 minutes left for them to warm up, then the game starts.
{Cayleigh's POV}
We finish warming up, and huddle up. Coach points to five us, which includes me, Caylyn, Bre, Moriah, and Kaleena, and we're starting. I'm a little nervous. We break out the huddle. "Lets go out and kill it." Caylyn says. We do our handshake then walk onto the court. I catch her and Derrick make googly eyes at each other. Just hoping my dad didn't catch it. I start the game off horribly. Probably one of the worst games I've ever played. We're losing. The score is 16-28. Coach just called a time out. It's quiet in the gym and all of a sudden I hear my dad's voice. "Take 7 out coach. She too tired." He says referring to me. I roll my eyes and it only pisses me off and makes me wanna shut him up, and he knows that. We break out from the timeout and Caylyn puts her arm around me. "Imma need you to play your game. Okay. Right now you playin scared and tired, and that's not you. Lets go kid."
She says then gives me a pat on the back. We inbound the ball close to where my parents are sitting. "I hope you talked some sense into her." My dad says to Caylyn before she inbounds the ball to me. We both ignore it. I score the next 3 offensive possessions. All 3s. "There you go twin." Bre says as we get back on defense. They dot even get the ball passed half court because I steal it and lay it in for two, making them take a time out. By them, everyone's cheering and on their feet because now we're down by 4. After the time out, my sister drops a few threes her self. After playing some good, team basketball, we pull out the win. 46-38. After the game we talk as a team, then head to the locker room to change because we have to watch varsity play. Once Caylyn and I get dressed, we head to the main gym, but she gets stopped by Derrick and instead of prying and being annoying I just decide to go to the gym by myself.
I get up to the gym and go to my parents. "Good game sweetie." My mom says. "Thanks." "Slow start...but good game kid." "Thanks daddy." "Where's your sister?" Quick, make a up a lie....a good one. I think to myself. "She's still getting dressed...I gotta go sit over there, and cheer on varsity." "Wanna keep your bag with us or take it with you." I take my phone out my gym bag, hand him my backpack and basketball bag and go sit with my teammates.
{Caylyn's POV}
"You did real good tonight?" "Thank you. Thanks for coming..." "No problem...I love watching you play." I look down and smile. "We should do something this weekend, you know hang out..." "Like a date?" "I'm just gone come out and say it. I like you. A lot. I always have...since the days I use to steal your tater tots during lunch in elementary school." "Yeah I don't miss those days at all.......buuuuuuuut....I like you too." "So that's a yes to the date?" "My dad is super weird when it comes to dating...so I don't know how successful that'll be..." "Maybe we can go to the mall or something, and just invite a few people...see if your sister wants to go." "I'm sure she'll be down to go." His phone vibrates. "Cool....my mom's here, so I'll see you tomorrow then?" "Yup...just text me." "Okay." He gives me a hug and I go back to the gym.
My dad flags me down and I walk over to them. "You did so good." "Thanks mom." "Good game." "Thanks dad." I leave my bags with them and go sit next to Cayleigh." "How'd it go?" "He asked me on a date..." "Please tell me you had enough sense to say yes..." "Of course I said yes....but.." "Gotta find away to get around dad." "Yeah...and that's where you come in." "I'm not third wheeling y'all's date." "That's not even the plan." "Then what's the plan." "Have like a group of people meet up at the mall, and we go off and do our own thing." "So you're gonna lie?" "No...it's not lying okay. We really are gonna meet up with a group of people...come on Cay...pwease." "Fine. I got you." "You the real MVP." "Yeah yeah."
