{Demi's POV}
After a few minutes, I go upstairs and he's getting ready to leave. "Baby....don't be upset with me....I didn't mean it the way it came out. You know that." "I know. I just....I want my little girl back." "We both do." "...are you coming with me?" "Only if you want me to." "I can't sit there through this by myself." "And you don't have to." We get dressed and head out.{Caylyn's POV}
After our dad drops us off at school, we chill in the cafeteria before the bell rings. "Yo, we gotta do something." I say. "Do what....there's nothing we can do." "Yes there is. There are police here on campus all the time. They're all cool with dad. They've always had our backs in situations...we can tell them." "You heard what dad said. He can't get the cops involve. Something could happen to her if we did." "Whoever has her will never know if we do it on the down low. Cayleigh....we can't just sit back and do nothing." "I don't know. If dad would find out....he'd flip shit, and you know it..." "If it can potentially get our sister back...then it's a risk we have to take." "Well...now's our chance..." She says nodding her head towards the cop walking passed the cafeteria." They have an office and we go there.
"Well if it isn't the Kaepernick twins!" One of them says. "What's up officer B" I say hopping on the desk. "Off the desk punk." "My bad." "What are you brats bothering me for today." "We got a situation..." "What kinda situation?" Cayleigh and I look at each other. "Someone kidnapped our little sister." "And your certain of this?" We nod. "He called our dad yesterday" she says. "And told him to leave the authorities out of it. He didn't tell us what exactly would happen if he didn't, but I think we can put two and two together...." I add. "I take it he doesn't know you came to me." We shake our head no. "You did the right thing. I'm gonna leave, head to the station and see what I can get done." "Thanks." "No problem." We walk out and go back to the cafeteria.
The bell rings for the last class of the day, which is basketball for me and Cayleigh. On our way to the locker room we get stopped by Officer B. We haven't talked to him since this morning. "So did you get anything?" I ask him. "Here, give this to your mom." He says handing me a card. "What is it?" "Number to a private investigator." "That's it. That's all you got man?" "Believe me, they're doing everything they can, even though your dad said not to...and right now they haven't gotten a lead. If your parents wanna hire this guy, he's really good at what he does, and it'll be a little more discrete." I nod. We go to the locker room and hurry and get changed before we're late and have to run. Rig after basketball class, we have practice. Afterwards, my mom is here to pick us up. "Shotgun." Cayleigh says, but Cali's in it, so we join CJ in the backseat. "Where's dad?" "He's gonna meet us at home." We get home and my mom gets started on dinner.
"Need some help?" "Sure." "....I uhhh...talked with officer B today." "About what." She says quickly turning my way. "About Dylan." "CeCe....what did your dad say?" "How the hell can you just sit back and not do anything!" "You watch yourself." She says in a stern voice which kinda brings me back down to size. "Mom...that's my little sister.....she's the baby. She's probably scared out of her mind right now. I'm scared for her. We have to give it a try....dad doesn't even have to know." "I can't go behind his back CeCe." "He can't get mad if he finds out because its in the best interest of Dylan." She takes a deep breath. "Fine...keep stirring this for me, and I'm gonna go make a call before your dad gets here." I nod. A few minutes later, my dad walks in. "Hey sweetie...how was school." "Good I guess...how was your day." "Busy......where's your mom?" "Right here." She says joining us in the kitchen. I let out a small sigh of relief because I didn't know what I was gonna tell him. I hope that call went well.
{Demi's POV}
"I'm gonna go shower and change." Colin says, I nod and he walks upstairs. "So?" CeCe asks. "I talked to him, and he's gonna help us out." "Yes. So we're gonna get her back soon? Cause officer B said the guy is good." "If he's as good as they say then yeah. We should and hopefully dad doesn't have to throw the game." "What are you talking about, throw the game?" "What's said in this kitchen between you and me, stays between you and me, got that?" She nods. "The man called dad again this morning. He wants him to throw the game, and lose. When the game is done, he said he'll give her back." "What happens if dad doesn't throw the game." I don't even have it in me to tell her what I believe he will do to Dylan. Even though I don't say anything, she gets it. "Sunday is two days away, hopefully he can find her in that amount of time." "I hope so too." I say in agreement.
The next morning, I take all the kids from school, on my way back home from doing that, I call the private investigator (PI) and asked if he could meet with us at the girls school during their game. This guy could be watching the house, so I just wanna be on the safe side, and Colin needs to know. Later on, we're at the girls school, watching them play and I get a call from the PI; he's outside. I grab Colin and we meet with him in the hallway. "Where we goin?" He asks. "Stop asking questions and just come." We finally meet up with him. "Who's this?" "Charles Reid...I'm a private investigator...." Colin immediately turns to me. "Didn't I tell you not to call them. You don't listen." He scolded. "Just hear what he has to say. He could help us. I want my baby back, and I know you do to. Just listen. Please. " I can see the anger in his face fade away as he looks into my eyes. "What do you need from us." "I wanna speak to your son, if that's okay. I just wanna know if he saw anything." "He said he saw a black truck." Colin says. "With all do respect Mr. Kaepernick, I'd like to speak to him directly..." "I'll go get him." I say then walk back to the gym.
After getting CJ from the gym, we go to the hallway. "Who's this?" CJ asks. "My names Charles Reid...I'm a private investigator." He says holding out his hand. "CJ.." He says shaking it. "Nice to meet you CJ." "Nice to meet you too Mr. Reid." "I wanna ask you a couple questions about the day your sister was abducted....can you do that for me?" He nods. "What happened that day? What did you see?" He explains everything and ends with the black SUV he saw. "Did you happen to get a glimpse at the license plate." "Well yeah...but I don't remember any of the letters or numbers." "Was it a California license plate." "Yeah..." "Was there anything else noticeable about the truck." "No...just a regular SUV. The tint was really dark so I couldn't tell if she was in there or not." "Okay....thank you...we're getting somewhere." He says. "Can I go back in the gym now." "Go on up, we'll be there in a minute." I say. He walks off and goes to the gym.
"So what now. I'm sure what he told you really wasn't as helpful." Colin says. "It's a start....you're wife mentioned something on the phone about the kidnapper calling you." "Yeah, he calls. Haven't heard from him today, and he calls private." "I could still probably track it. Is he pretty consistent about what time he calls." "The first time he called at night, then yesterday, in the morning..he hasn't called today, but I'm sure he'll call to warn me about throwing the game." "In order for me to track where he is, I'll need to be with you when he does." "Like, at my house?" Colin asks and he nods. "No, you're not getting anywhere near my house...he could be watching. He has to be. He's been watching this whole time, that's how he knew when Dylan and CJ would be walking home." "Don't worry. I can be completely discrete about it." "Babe..." I say looking at him. "Fine. My daughter gets hurt, it's on you." "I'll call you tomorrow." He says. "Thank you." "Don't go behind my back like that again. Ever." Colin says then walks off.
