Chapter 3

{Caylyn's POV}

Next morning, I get up, and get ready for school. After a certain point, I just stop caring about dressing to impress, especially now that basketball season is here. Sweatpants, tshirts and Nike's are gonna be my best friend. I get up to go brush my teeth, and cayleigh's in there. We got stuck sharing a bathroom because we lost to Cali in a game of "21". CJ was already gonna get his own bathroom, and then we had to play for who would get their own, and who would have to share. Sucks but oh well. I knock on the door and she opens it. We're good about sharing the bathroom without fighting. After brushing my teeth, I back in the room, and do my hair there. Go to the closet, pick a pair of sweatpants...a pair of sneakers...out of the hundred that I have. I get dressed and cayleigh's walking out as I do and she legit has on the same thing. "Really?" I ask. "I changed the last time." "Fine, I'll go change." I say walking back to the room to change my shirt.

We go downstairs and mom and dad are sitting at the table. "Morning girls." My mom says. "Morning....morning daddy." Cayleigh says. "Breakfast is on the stove." "Cool." We make plates and sit down and eat. "What time is practice over?" Dad asks. "5:30. But starting tomorrow freshman team practices in the mornings." Cayleigh says. "Why count yourself out for JV or Varisty." "Well for one, they're stacked. Ion think they need anymore players. Second. We don't wanna play varsity." I say. "Why not?" "Because...we'll never see the court. I'm not down to ride the bench." "Neither am I." "Yeah y'all definitely won't see the court. Not with that attitude. Your asses are gonna be right there on the bench." "Colin..." Mom says. He hates when we talk negatively or mention how we can't do something. My mom's always the one to intervene if he starts getting too harsh. We finish eating and leave to go to the bus stop.

"Why is he like that?" Cayleigh's asks. "What do you mean?" "I don't know. He just always gets on us when it comes to sports." "Maybe he sees more in us..and we're just not seeing it...but don't let it get to you." We make it to the bus stop, and it comes a few minute later. We get to the school and go to the locker room to put our bags up, then go to the coaches office where the teams are posted on the door. I look for us. "Freshman A." I say and give her a high five. "We're bout to have too much fun this season." She says. "Hell yeah....and you being our floor general." "I thought you were gonna be our point guard." "Ummm no. That's all you twin....unless you want Erica to take it then go ahead." "She made the team?" I nod. "How? She's trash...like TRAAASSSH." She says dramatically. "Ion know..but come on...bell's gonna ring soon." Soon as I say that, it rings. "Or now." I add and we go to class.

{Demi's POV}

The girls leave for school and I start cleaning the kitchen. As I'm doing the dishes, Colin comes and hugs me from behind. "Are you coming to help?" "Mmmm I had other plans." He says then kisses my neck. "Oh yeah...like what?" I say turning around, he picks me up and walks to the living room. He lays me down on the couch. "I thought we agreed to stop doing quickies on the couch. Our kids sit here." "They'll be okay....what they don't know, won't hurt." "That's so gross." "Oh just hush and make love to me woman." He says and shuts me up with a kiss. He sits up to take his shirt off and comes back to continue the kiss. His phone on the table starts vibrating. We were gonna just let it go straight to voicemail but whoever it is on the other end of that phone wasn't gonna hang up. "Babe just answer it." He grabs his phone. "It's Jay. Probably calling about more job stuff for after the season. Head upstairs and I'll be up in a minute." I nod and go upstairs.

{Colin's POV}

I finish up the call and head upstairs. I get to the room and Demi's sitting up in bed, with the covers over her...watching tv. "Damn, did I take that long." "Just a little...you gonna join me?" I strip down, get in bed and get on top of her. "What did Jay say?" "That's not important right now...what's important right now." "What's important." "Lay back and let me show you." I say as I slide inside, and her body tenses up a bit, but then relaxes and I slowly make love to her. Afterwards, we take a quick nap and I wake up to my alarm going off. Today's my day off, and on my days off, I bring all my kids lunch to school. Luckily, this year, they're schedules worked out to where they have lunch one after another. It goes Dylan first, then CJ, then Cali, and the girls are last with lunch at 1:07. I get up, shower, and get dressed. Demi's still sleep, she got up a lot earlier that I did.

I leave and go get Dylan food first, then go to the school. She loves when I come have lunch with her and her friends love it to, probably because I randomly bring her class pizza for lunch sometimes. After having lunch with Dylan, I leave a little bit before it ends to go get CJ's food and I come back just in time. We sit and have lunch. Afterwards, I walk with him back to class. "Thanks for lunch pops." "You're welcome. I'll see you when you and Dylan get home." "Alright. Love you." "Love you too." He walks in the room, and his teacher steps back out to talk to me. "So I wanted to talk to either you or his mom about possible bumping him up a grade." "CJ?" "Yes sir. The kid is smart. Maybe the smartest I've seen in a while. His reading level is way above his peers, I've never seen someone excel in science and math the way that he does." "So he could just up and leave today." "He could...after testing out of the grade he's in now..or at the end of the school year, test out of the 6th grade and go straight to 7th." "..let me talk to his mother first, and we'll get back to you." "Sounds good." He says then shakes my hand.

I go to Cali's school next. I get her something to eat as well, and we eat outside in the court yard. "How's school going?" "Good. Just ready for the day to be over so I can have tryouts already...by the way, I got my grade up in science...to a 75...I'm gonna pass." "That's good. But I need more from you okay. No more last minute stuff." "Okay. I got you." We finish eating and I get ready to leave. "What time are tryouts over today?" "4:45" "okay, I'll be outside in the front when it's over." "Okay. Thanks for lunch." "You're welcome, I love you." "Love you too dad." We walks back to the cafeteria and I leave, and go to the twins school. I usually take them off campus, even thought they're not seniors and aren't allowed to leave campus, but since they're with a parent, it's okay. I get to the school and wait outside. I hear the bell ring and kids start spilling out the building and portables left and right. "Hi Mr. Kaepernick." I hear and it's a couple of the twins teammates. I wave to them. The girls finally come out, running to the care fighting for the front seat. "Didn't I tell y'all to have front seat straightened out. Mess up my ride, and imma mess y'all up." "Sorry dad."

"Where do y'all wanna go?" "Taco Bell." Caylyn says. "Cayleigh, that cool with you?" "Yeah." We get to Taco Bell, they order and we sit down. Their number gets called and I go grab their food. "So what team?" "Freshman A." "That's what y'all wanted right?" "Yeah." "Well then I'm content. I just want y'all to play well, be happy and have fun. You won't produce as well if you not havin fun." "So where's mom." "Either at home or out somewhere. I've been gone since almost 10 something to bring all you knuckle heads food. She was sleep when I left." While they eat, they hand me their phones so I can take a selfie of us.

Cayleigh posts her and it says

"Reasons I look forward to my dad's off days. Lunch time😎"

Caylyn's post says

"Weekly lunch with papa bear🐻 Love my old man❤"

"Old man huh?" I say after reading it and she laughs. "Ha. Ha." We finish lunch and I take them back to school. "Thanks for lunch dad." Caylyn says then gives me a kiss on the cheek. "Yeah, your the best." Cayleigh's says coming from the back seat to give me a kiss on the cheek. "You're welcome. Have a good rest of the day, and I'll be here to pick your girls up from practice." "Okay." They both says and watch them walk in the building before driving off.
