To search through the files in our minds to figure out when we heard their voice
The moment we saw them in the vibrant dress they describe
To hear the laughs that were shared through inside jokes and empty bottles of wine
Drowning in doubt that
That this memory was never meant to come back to bite me
Memories are meant to teach us lessons to live through life
To know what to do next when we find ourselves in a difficult position
Not to remember someone's that upped and left
Left without another word to be said
To leave someone that they considered a friend
To then come back after all of these years
Out of nowhere
Without a warning of any kind
To come back into one's life
To use this phrase that is so nostalgic
But also, so traumatizing
Remember Me
Although it is painful to finally remember their name
It is a relief that they are now here to stay
The peace that suddenly washes over the body
To let you know it was okay
To be glad that they have asked you to "Remember Me"
Remember me when you are weak
To remember the strength that lies deep within
There is nothing wrong with giving in
But you should not forget the trials that you been in
The battles that have scarred you
The memories that have saved you
The hand taking hold of your body to ensure you break but only to bend
To remember the people
To remember the voices
To Remember me when these things seem too easy
