Gimli was sitting on top of a pile of Uruks, smoking his pipe and humming to himself.
Legolas and I made our way to him, as the rest of the Rohirrim soldiers searched the dead.
"Final count," Leoglas smirked, examining his bow for any marks, "Forty two."
"Forty two?" Gimli asked, nodding his head in approval, "That's not bad for a pointy-eared Elvish princeling. I myself am sitting pretty on forty three." he smirked, taking another puff from his pipe.
Legolas quickly grabbed an arrow from his quiver and knocked it onto his bow before firing the said arrow into the Uruk beneath Gimli.
"Forty three." he said smugly, making me smile, a laugh escaping my mouth.
"He was already dead." Gimli grumbled.
"He was twitching." Legolas shrugged.
"He was twitching cause he's got my axe embedded in his nervous system!" Gimli growled as he moved his axe, which was stuck in the orc's skull, and it began to twitch.
"You two were really counting your kills, after I told you to stop?" I ask, raising an eyebrow and the two nod simultaneously.
I sigh, the smile still on my lips before turning to Legolas.
"Thank you for having my back out there." I whisper to him.
"Well, I mean, I can't live without you." he whispers back before he pulled me closer, one hand on my waist, the other on my cheek, drawing me in for a kiss.
It wasn't a long kiss or a deep one, just a simple one. He pulled away with a smirk, just as I was relaxing, leaving me rooted to the spot, blushing a deep red.
Gimli burst into laughter as I hid my red face with my hair. Legolas brushed my hair away, smiling.
"Don't hide your face. You have nothing to be ashamed of. And you're cute when you're blushing."

By the afternoon, I was back in Moonlight's saddle and riding with the Fellowship that was there, Theoden, and Eomer. We stopped just on the ridge to look out at the landscape.
"Sauron's wrath will be terrible, his retribution swift." Gandalf said solemnly. "The battle for Helm's Deep is over. The battle for Middle Earth is about to begin. All our hope now lie with two little Hobbits somewhere in the wilderness."

The ride toward Isengard wasn't eventful. It took only a few days and luckily, we didn't run into any resistance. We had taken the path through Fangorn Forest.
When we at last came through the trees and looked upon Isengard, it was crawling with Ents and flooded over. Not a single orc was in sight and the walls of Isengard were broken.
We heard laughter up ahead and my head perked up as I recognized whose laughter it was.
We turned past the last few trees and there they were. Merry and Pippin were sitting atop of the broken wall with pipes in their hands, mugs of ale by their side. A smile grew on my face when I saw them, the last time being when we were all captives of the Uruk-Hai.
"Welcome, my lords and lady," Merry exclaimed, a little on the drunken side. "to Isengard!"
"You young rascals! A merry hunt you've led us on!" Gimli yelled irritably. "and now we find you feasting and smoking!"
