Your phone rings with a Massachusetts number your not sure who it is, your wondering maybe it's your cousin Summer. Calling you again giving with a new date for her wedding that keeps being pushed back. You feel bad for her, but also don't know the number, wondering if it's Blake her fiancé. You answer "Hello?" Right away you hear his voice and know exactly who this calling you.

"Hello y/n, I hope it's ok that I'm calling you. Look I'm sorry if I weirded you out with sending all the dog toys, gifts and flowers. Just I love dogs and your puppy willow she's so cute." Chris says nervously.

"Hi Chris, it's ok you did say it was Dodger's idea haha. It's fine, sounds like you working on a lot of up coming protects, that Matt has get the contracts worked out for." You tell him.

Chris sighs on the phone, "ya I've got this up coming web site, and in talks for some movies next year. If the pandemic gets better."

"I know so sounds like lots of zoom call meetings with you, your team, Matt and I. So we at least can get along makes it easier right?" You responded.

"Ah sure sure, I guess we can become Covid lockdown friends, if your ok with that." Chris asks

"Chris that's nice, yes definitely your a good guy and we can be friends. Especially now with this crap of Covid." You tell him, since he said just friends you know it's nothing more. That stings a little but also you get he's way out of your league.

"Y/n so what are you plans this weekend, just curious?" Chris asks

"Oh my cousin she getting married, I think in a few weeks, so having low key bachelorette party near her home just outside of Boston." You say.

"What, your going to be in Boston this weekend seriously. What to do mean if she gets married?" He says

"Oh just with the pandemic rules and restrictions, she had total of 150 guests mostly their families, friends and some co workers. But with the rules it keeps delaying the wedding. They really want this big wedding. I don't get it, if your that in love just do a small family one for now, than have a big party in a year or so. But they're stubborn on this, so I don't fight it." You tell him.

"So are you in the wedding party so something." He asks

"Ya we are super close actually I'm her maid of honour, between me and my 2 sisters she went with me. Only issue she's told me one of grooms men is my date. I don't even know him or his name, so just not looking forward to it." You say.

"Oh ok y/n, well sounds like a lot of fun, weddings are fun. Hope it's good time. Don't worry about that guy, maybe he is just as nervous, or not looking forward it like you." Chris says back

You laugh, " ya never thought about that, poor guy stuck with clumsy me, I'll probably break his toes if we dance. It will be hell for him."

"Chris really thank you for the lovely gift. Maybe I can get you and dodger something when I'm in Boston this weekend." You tell him

"Y/n you don't have to it's ok, but maybe we can go for a walk or something, are you bringing willow? her and dodger could have nice dog date?" He asks

Your heart crumbles when he says the word date, again you remind yourself only friends. It's laughable he's even speaking to you right now. " ya I'm bringing her staying at my cousins. I come from a big dog loving family so Willow has loads to play with, but it would be nice to get away from the questions."

"What questions?" Chris asks

Your the girl no one wants, unless it's horrible guys like Eric. Your mind goes back thinking shit he will be there, Blake and Eric are friends. "Crap, just my cousin, her fiancé is good friends with my ex. My aunt and uncle don't know the real reason we didn't get married, cause they think he's that one in a million. Even Summer my cousin, she still doesn't get why didn't get married, she knows he didn't show up, but she's always calling and texting telling me give him another chance."

"You haven't told them, he cheated on you how come? Chris asks.

"It's hard, I hid a lot from them, they love him. Thinks he's amazing not capable of cheating, or how mean he was to me. I guess I just think they will take his side, some of my friends from college took my exes side. Even my mother she took his side making excuses for him. I just don't want to feel that again. It's just better to say we wanted different things" you tell chris.

"Oh ok, but you shouldn't be the one taking the blame for it all. That's not fair to yourself. So what do you want for you life now." Chris asks

"Truthfully, I want to be happy being myself. I'm not going back to faking who I am to make someone else happy, or live up to their expectations. I just want someone where we can both be ourselves, dorks say and do stupid things laugh about it. I want my own life, my thing and want that for whoever I end up with. Right now though I just want to be strong happy, find myself again, so the idea of dating isn't even a thought for me." You tell him

"Ok, that sounds like a good plan. I kind of feel the same way. Just I date but doesn't really go anywhere, I work a lot. I found in the past some girls they get upset that I'm away filming so much. Anyways we got this meeting apparently on zoom soon. I guess I'll see you there. I can't talk to much but when I can I'll call. Also these fake accounts." Chris says you cut him off

"Hey it's ok, I know it fake don't worry I can handle anything any moron throws my way. Actually Jill and I had an idea to mess with them. It would be fun get some laughs and give them some well deserved karma. I hope they doesn't upset you?" You tell him

Chris laughs "no not upset on the least, they deserve it. They are complete garbage, just please be careful, if you feel in danger at all please let me know. Maybe I can figure something out to get rid of them. But for the most part just ignore them please." He requests

"Ok Chris I'll be careful and ya don't worry about me. Just do your thing ok. See you in the meeting sorry I really need to get ready for it." You tell him.

You both say you goodbyes one the phone. You look at the time "shit". You didn't know how but you guys talking for over an hour somehow. Jill is just smirking in the kitchen as you walk out to the living room. You stick your tongue out at her. "Jill just shit the fuck up. Don't start. We are just friends my words, his words too."

"Oh sure, I heard you both on speaker, he knows about Boston this weekend. Ok just friends have fun on your date, I mean doggie date." She laughs

"Jill just keep your mouth shut about this on the weekend, we have to leave tomorrow. Don't tell anyone please. You know my family it's already going to be 20 questions a minute about taking Eric back. Don't mention my new friendship with Chris please. Yes he's famous my family will be all over that fact. To me he just Chris nice guy ok." You beg her.

"'Mhmm just a nice guy your super attracted to, fine I won't say a word. Have fun staring at him and get distracted during your meeting soon. I'm heading out for a while bye." She says leaving

You get into the couch and ready for your zoom call. Just as willow climbs up right next you with her head in your lap. You login in and first thing you see is him. You can't help but smile, he's smiling back. I'll your thinking is just friends over and over in your head.
