Chris Evans : Deception

Part 20

Chris pov

Chris just sat in the sand on the beach in shock, that y/n were that brave to admit how you feel about him. He sat there finally looking behind him watching you walk away, think to himself how did I miss that, she kept saying you were just friends. He felt like he had been hit by a truck, but all he could do was watch you walk away. Paul walked up and sat next to Chris in the sand.

Paul looked over at Chris "hey man you ok?"

Chris had this look of puzzlement and shock "Why didn't you tell me it was just and act?"

"Man I was going to, but then you were acting so weird Chris." Paul says.

"Do you like her? Is that why you said nothing to me." Chris asks

"Chris I just met her, really she's a nice girl and everything but she's not my type. Plus I wouldn't do that to you." he tells Chris.

"Do what to me Paul, I'm just asking if you like y/n?" Chris asks

Paul looks at Chris with a questioning face. "Chris y/n said you two are just friends, but I know you well enough. You got it bad buddy."

"What are you even talking about?" he says back

Paul laughs "Chris c'mon man you like y/n just admit it already." 

Chris laughs "What look she's nice, kind, smart, funny and sweet. Y/n she just confuses me." 

"What do you mean Chris?" Paul asks.

"She says, I'm such a good friend. That she's happy to a have friend like me in her life. Just now though she was talking to me and told me she has feelings for me. Than she got up and just walked away from me back to the house to meet me cousin and the rest of the girls." Chris confesses.

"Wait she told you she likes you and just left. What did you say back when y/n told you how she feels." he asks Chris.

"Nothing, she just got up and left. What was I supposed to say to y/n. She said Chris I like you to my face looking at me all nervous. Than minute later she stood up and left like I told you." he tells Paul.

Paul sighs "Chris your telling me, that woman told you she liked you sat here for a minute looking for any kind of reaction from you. You just sat her until she left Chris, really your a smart guy, but man when it comes to admitting to y/n you like her." 

"I didn't think she felt that way at all about me, like I just told you she always says I'm her friend." Chris says 

"Chris who was the first one between you and y/n to call each other friends first, you or her?" Paul questions him.

Chris looks down shaking his head. "what the shit, I told her we were just friends first."

"So you friend zoned the girl you like first, than she take the shot and tells you she likes you. Which anyone even a blind person can see on her face how much she likes you. How could you not see it. You just sat there said nothing no wonder y/n got up and walked away." Paul tells him

Chris just sits there listening to Paul. "You know she was more worried about you being upset than herself in this lie we came up with, her cousin, sisters and friend have been telling her for years to give up this fantasy crush she had on you. She told me she gave it up years ago and ended up dating her ex. Saying she knew is was just one of those things you dream of that would never come true. She was like not like she ever met you it was just a fantasy thing."

"She told you all this, and about her ex?" Chris asks.

"Ya, she was embarrassed to admit it, but you told me about her. How you met her at your lawyers office and everything. Kaylee told me about her a few weeks ago and once we go there and you saw her. I knew this was the same y/n you talk about all the time."

Chris looked at him "I don't talk about y/n all the time, maybe here and there during a week. She has just become a good friend during this covid thing it helps talking to her, she just see me as Chris, not this famous actor."

"Chris, you do talk about her at least once day, don't believe me, even Scott was texting me asking who this mysterious y/n was, why can't you admit you like her?" Paul asks

Chris takes in a deep breath "Fine ok, I like her. What am I supposed to do though. The last girl I dated it went to shit. She got bullied, it caused problems for us and than relationship was over. I just it easier to just date and not look for something serious."

"How's that working out for you Chris. You say you want a life one day with family. This is the first girl I have seen you get jealous over. If you likey/n tell her, at least tell her as soon as you can, before you lose your shot with her." Paul warns him.

"What is that supposed to mean, you just said you don't like her that way Paul." Chris snaps.

"See this is what I'm talking about. No Chris I don't like her that way. I mean y/n confessed she likes you, you sat there saying nothing. She left you didn't make any effort, so she's probably thinking you don't like her that way. She's maybe even thinking she ruined what friendship you do have together. All you did was push the girl you like farther from you. I girl like her she's not going wait forever for someone she likes, who doesn't like her back." Paul advises Chris.

They continue talking a little bit, till Connor and his buddies come get them. They head to the campsite for Connor's party, not typical one. The best man finally arrives his flight was late. Connor tells the guys the girls got ready and headed out to the family bar/dance club Kaylee part owns. Chris is quiet knowing he missed his chance to talk to y/n tonight, he needed away to figure out when to talk to her tomorrow at brunch. The guys are ready to head out once Connor's best man finally shows up. Connor let them know the flight was late from Denver. Connor tells, them to be nice as he was good friends with him growing up. He pleads with his buddies to be nice to his best man. Connor admits he knows the best man made a massive huge mistake but he wants to make right by his mistake. Chris has some erie feeling come over him, he's wondering who this guy is and why Connor is super protective of him. Eventually the guy pulls up in his rental car and gets out. Connor tells everyone who when they see him to lay off, all the guys are in shock going seriously this asshole. Even Paul knows who the best man is,  warning Connor that Kaylee is going to kill him. Finally the man shakes hand with Chris while glaring at him. Connor says to him "Chris this Eric, Eric Chris." The name and person hits Chris like a ton of bricks and why everyone was bitching, why Connor is nervous even. This guy is Eric not just any Eric, he y/n ex who left her at the altar almost a year ago.
