"Sunday na pero traffic pa rin." Leni said when they were stucked in EDSA for an hour now
Jorge looked at Leni and said.
"Naririnig ko na po dati pa na ma-traffic nga daw po dito sa Manila. Hindi ko naman po ini-expect na isang oras po pala tayo maglalagi."
"Ito nga ang isa sa mga isinusulong ko sa kandidatura ko bilang pangulo, kailangan talagang paigtingin ang mass transport para mabawasana ang traffic." Leni answered
Jorge became silent for a while, pondering the next words that she is about to say but sadly, she cannot find the right words to say since the woman beside her is already perfect in her own right.
She just looked at Leni and smiled. Leni smiled back at her and patted her head.
"Hay salamat." Leni said when the vehicle started to run on the streets again
They arrived at Leni's condo after 30 minutes.
Upon entering the condo building, they were greeted by the security and the receptionist and they continued to go to Leni's unit.
"Pasensya ka na at maliit lang itong condo." Leni said while opening the door of their condo unit
"Ayos lang po yun. Sanay din naman po ako sa maliit na space kasi maliit lang din naman po ang bahay namin sa Bacolod." Jorge answered
When Jorge entered the condo unit, she felt like home suddenly.
"Jorge, hali ka. Put your things in my room kasi doon ka matutulog with her." Leni said and lead Jorge to her room
Jorge didn't unpack her things yet since she doesn't know what's going to happen to her in the next few days.
After that, Jorge went to the living room and found Leni unpacking her luggage. When Leni saw her, she called her and asked her to take a picture of her and Leni posted it on social media to update her supporters and to give a summary of her week campaigning in the different parts of the country.
Leni went to the laundry to wash the clothes. Jorge followed her to the laundry and when Leni knew she was following her, she called her.
"Jorge." Leni called
Jorge immediately went to Leni.
"Ano po yun, madam VP?" Jorge asked
Nothing has been proven yet so it is right for her to call the vice president as "Madam VP" or "Ma'am" instead of "Mama".
"Don't call me madam or madam VP. Anak kita, you can call me mama na. You have been calling me mama earlier." Leni said
"Pasensya na po kayo, ma. Hindi lang po ako sanay saka hindi pa naman po napapatunayan na anak po ninyo ako." Jorge said
"I know that your testimonies, your lola's diary and the receipts that you have showed me may not be enough to prove that you are my Jorgina pero noong nakita ko yung balat mo sa balikat, I was so sure that it was you." Leni said
Jorge just looked at Leni. She is happy that she is now her daughter but she is still uncertain and she doesn't know why. Maybe she was just so caught up in the moment and cannot believe what is happening.
"I have scheduled a DNA test today at St. Luke's. That will be 4 PM so by 3 o'clock ay aalis na tayo and then, we will go to mass at the Church of the Gesu in Ateneo. 6 PM pa naman ang misa. Tayo lang dalawa dito since gagabihin sila ng uwi panigurado." Leni said
Leni was about to put the clothes in the washing machine when Jorge stopped her.
"Ako na po, ma. Magpahinga na po kayo." Jorge said
"Ayos lang ako. Doon ka na sa sala. Manood ka ng tv o mag netflix ka." Leni told her
"Ako na po. May lakad po tayo at mula 12 midnight ay nasa biyahe po kayo at wala po kayong maayos na tulog kaya kayo po ang may deserve ng pahinga. Bukas ay aalis na naman po kayo para mangampanya. Chill ka muna doon sa sala." Jorge insisted and reminded Leni of her activities since midnight
If Leni is stubborn when it comes to household work, she will never win over Jorge. Leni gave up on winning the argument with her youngest daughter because she knows that Jorge has a point. She needs to rest.
"Okay. Oo na. Pagbibigyan kita. Ayos ka lang diyan ha?" Leni said
"Oo naman ma, ayos lang ako. Love you." Jorge answered and Leni walked out of the laundry
Jorge continued to put the clothes in the washing machine and while it is rolling, she went to the kitchen to help prepare their lunch. After that, Leni and Jorge ate their lunch.
"Ma?" Jorge said to Leni
"Ano yun, nak?" Leni answered
"Gaano po katagal bago ma release ang result?" Jorge asked
"Sabi nila, within 3-5 days daw." Leni said
"Okay po. Kinakabahan po ako. Pag negative po ang result, hihingi na po agad ako ng tawag sa inyo ngayon palang. Alam ko pong magastos yun e." Jorge said
"Huwag kang mag-isip ng ganyan. We'll cross the bridge when we get there." Leni said and consoled Jorge
After lunch, they took their siesta. Leni also took a nap since she was not able to sleep properly during their trip. After that, they went to St. Luke's Hospital to take the DNA test. They were there for only 30 minutes since they were the only clients. They still have an hour and a half so they decided to stroll around instead.
"Anak, gusto mo mag-shopping muna tayo ng mga damit mo?" Leni asked Jorge
"No need ma, after nalang natin malaman ang result. Gusto ko munang makasigurado bago kayo gumastos sa akin." Jorge said
"Thank you for being honest with me pero I already ordered you our campaign shirts. 4 pieces lang naman. Okay lang yun?" Leni said
"Of course, ma! Marami na po yung apat." Jorge answered
To seize the remaining time before going to church, they went to Starbucks just near Ateneo to have their afternoon snack and then proceeded to go to the Church of the Gesu in Ateneo to attend the 6 PM mass. After the mass, they saw someone so dear coming towards them.
"Good evening, Lens. Good evening, Jorge." the lady greeted them
The lady was Senator Risa Hontiveros.
"Good evening, Risa. Hello to your kids." Leni answered
"Good evening po, mama Ris! Hello!" Jorge greeted Risa and her children
"Do you have plans tonight?" Risa asked
"Wala naman. Bakit?" Leni asked
"Let's have a dinner." Risa said inviting them for dinner
"Ris, alam mo namang nagba-budget kami diba? We do not eat outside if not necessary." Leni explained
"No worries. We will not eat outside. We will eat at our house. Ano sayo? It has been a tiring week for us and no chance for us to talk about matters except for politics." Risa said trying to convince Leni and she smiled sweetly
"Alam niya naman na yung ngiti niya ang kahinaan ko. Hay nako, Ana Theresia." Leni said in her mind
"Sige na. Oo na. We will go." Leni said and Risa smiled even more
"Let's go!" Risa said and they went to Risa's house to eat dinner
