Chapter 17 Realizations

After almost 2 hours, the plane that carries the team of Leni Robredo and other passengers landed at NAIA 2. Leni never used a private plane for her campaigns since she is comfortable in riding in an economy plane.

When Leni was about to go inside the van that was waiting for her, Risa approached her.

"Lens!" Risa called her

"What is it?" Leni asked her

"I would like to apologize about what happened earlier inside the aircraft. I don't know why I said those words. I was not prudent enough earlier kaya ko nasabi iyon." Risa said asking for an apology

"No worries, Ris. Gusto ko rin humingi ng paumahin. Maybe I sounded too sarcastic kaya iba rin ang pagkaka-interpret mo sa sinabi ko." Leni said

"Don't worry, wala naman akong balak na agawin ang atensyon ng anak mo. I understand that you may be too possessive of her now since matagal din siyang nawala sa piling mo but I am not trying to be her mom if that's what you're thinking. I am too fond of your daughter kasi she gets along with my Anje. Wala kasing masyadong kaibigan si Angelica kaya masaya ako noong nakahanap siya ng kaibigan in the person of Jorgina." Risa explained

"Nagseselos lang naman ako sa paraan ng paghawak mo sa kamay ng anak ko at ito namang anak ko kinikilig." Leni told herself

"I wasn't thinking that way naman at salamat sa pag-unawa mo. In fact, I am grateful kasi isa ka sa mga unang tumanggap sa anak ko." Leni answered

"Okay na tayo Maria Leonor ha?" Risa said

"Oo naman, Ana Theresia. Okay na okay." Leni said

"Paano ba yan, kailangan ko nang umalis to get ready for the presidential debates later." Leni said

"Sure. Bye, Lens! Good luck sa debates!" Risa bid her goodbye and kissed Leni on the cheeks

Leni went inside the van where her daughters are waiting for her.

While on the road, Leni pondered on what happened on the plane.

Leni knew that Jorge simps for Risa and she also overheard Jorge saying that she has a crush on Risa.

"Maybe just an admiration for Risa since Jorge has had mommy issues before we knew the truth." Leni told herself

Leni was trying to convince herself that it was the only reason but she cannot explain why she got jealous when she saw Risa holding her daughter's hands.

"Girly naman gumalaw at manamit si Jorge at wala naman siyang nasasabi kung bi or ano." She told herself

Leni knows that Jorge is attracted to Risa but her daughter never revealed or came out as a lesbian or a bisexual. As far as she know, her daughter is straight.

"Kaya ba ako nagseselos kanina kasi unti-unti na akong nahuhulog kay Risa? O baka hindi lang unti-unti, baka hulog na hulog na nga ako sa kanya kaya pati anak ko ay pinagseselosan ko?" Leni asked herself

"Ma? Are you okay?" Jorge asked Leni who was staring blankly at the window of the van

"I'm fine anak. I'm just thinking about the presidential debates later." Leni answered

"Are you worried or nervous, ma?" she asked

"Kinakabahan, oo pero may resibo naman tayo bunso kaya madali lang ilatag ang lahat ng iyon at madali ring sagutin ang magiging tanong nila." Leni replied

"Don't worry ma, we are your cheerleaders for today and we have a cheerleader in New York too." Jorge told Leni

"I know. I know. Thank you for all your support." Leni said and patted Jorge on the head

On the other hand, while travelling back to her house, Risa was also pondering about what happened at the aircraft.

Risa knows that she is fond of Jorge because Jorge is the first and only friend of her youngest daughter and they get along just fine. What she is confused about was the way Leni talked to her when she saw her holding Jorge's hands.

She understands that Leni might be too possessive of her daughter for now since they just found her after almost 20 years of thinking that she was already dead.

It was so clear to Risa that she is sometimes confused of her relationship with Leni. She knows that Leni is her very best friend but there is a small part of her wishing that they can take it to the next level but will Leni accept her or is Leni even thinking about it? While thinking about these things, her own boyfriend came across her mind.

"Ana Theresia, umayos ka. Linisin mo yang utak mo at tigilan mo ang pag-iisip na pwede kayong maging more than friends ni Leonor kasi may jowa ka na at si Leonor ay walang kabalak-balak mag boyfriend." She scolded herself

"Sabi niya naman wala siyang kabalak-balak mag boyfriend, edi baka pwede pa? Babae naman ako kaya magiging girlfriend ako at hindi boyfriend?" the other side of her head telling her

Risa was so confused at the discussion that was going on inside her brain.

"Ano baaaaa!" Risa screamed

"Ma'am ayos lang po kayo?" her driver asked her

Risa was so embarrassed when she realized that she said it aloud.

"Ayos lang po ako, kuya. Pasensya na." she said and the driver didn't say a word

"Ayan kasi Ana Theresia kung anu-ano iniisip mo. May jowa ka, may jowa ka." She said trying to convince herself not to think of Leni since she (Risa) is already in a relationship

Risa couldn't help but think about Leni. They have been friends since 2013 when Leni ran for congress and the latter even supported her senatorial bid when she ran for the senate for the second time but lost it again.

Since then, Leni was always by her side supporting her and she also did the same for her especially when she ran for the vice presidency in 2016. She didn't even slept until she was sure that Leni is ahead of her opponents during the ballot counting. She could do anything for Leni's sake.

"Can I even sacrifice my boyfriend for Leni's sake?" Risa asked herself

"Risa ano ba. Hindi ka bakla, hindi rin bakla si Leni. Alam mo na si Jess lang ang mahal niya. Tumigil ka na at may jowa ka rin." the other side of her brain said

She just called her children and informed them that she is on her way home to deviate her thoughts.
