The Zwise clan sat around a Hell Gate, located within a cave system in the West of the US.
Mark in his goal to find power and strength from the teachings of the Zwise who raised his mother, a demon hunter in a league of her own, challenged his grandfather for the rank of a leader.
As a tradition, the two entered Hell, where the last or only to exit becomes the leader of the clan.
At least that faction of it.
Currently, the two have been in hell for three weeks.
To confirm they weren't dead, they threw rocks with messages on them back to earth.
In the end, Gerald came out from hell first, allowing Mark to come out as the new leader of the Zwise clan.

Lifting his katana in victory, Mark approaches Robin.
Mark: What has occurred whilst I was away?
