It hurts when you hide it

What if Spongebob died after he ate the pie. And both of them sharing their last moments? And what if Spongebob did know that the pie he ate was a bomb? Why did the Squarepants eat the pie bomb? And what if Squidward confessed to Spongebob that the pie he ate was a bomb?

(this is short fic)

This is it...

These are the last moments he could ever see Spongebob.

This is his final and only day to live.

They are both laying down on the grass, watching the sunset. "this is great, just the three of us. You, me... and this brick wall that you built  between us..." Spongebob touched the hard brick wall. it was rough. Spongebob can hear Squidward laugh forcefully on the other side. "H- haha... yeah..."

Spongebob looked at the sun falling slowly. Squidward did the same.

"Sunsets always remind me of bowls of fruit. What do they make you think of, Squidward?" Squidward frowned. "E- Explosions... I- I mean, erosion!" Squidward stuttered. Spongebob heard him, he slightly made a frown on his face.

Spongebob leaves a hint. "You know... if I were to die right now in some sort of fiery explosion due to the carelessness of a friend, well, that would just be okay." Spongebob felt the bomb dropping on his lower intestine.

He knows that it's the pie bomb he ate. "Wow, it feels like something just dropped into my lower intestine!" Squidward heard it. Spongebob couldn't help but his tears started to drop instantly. He was crying in silence.

Squidward felt guilt inside him. He wanted to confess so bad. "S-Sponge...?" Squidward called his name. "Yes, Squidward?" "Wh- what if i- i- told you that- the pie you ate was a bomb...?" Squidward looked at the brick wall.

He wished he could see his face. But he built this for protection. "You know Squidward? I enjoy watching this sunset with you... the only thing that bothers me is just the wall haha..." Squidward lay his head on the brick wall. So as Spongebob did.

"You're avoiding what I was saying, nitwit..." "didn't I answer it already?" Squidward raised his head. "what? S-Spongebob did you-" "yes, Squidward... I know that it was a bomb that I ate... I hid it from you as well..." 

"If you knew it was a pie bomb from the start then... Why did you still eat it?" 

Spongebob clenched both of his fists. "I could never deny my friend's gift or me... The gift I made for you is dumb... so I started to remake it. While you weren't looking!" Spongebob drops the present that is wrapped in a blue ribbon on the other side of the wall.

Squidward opened the present. It was a knitted sweater, its colour orange and there is a sign on the middle. "I ♡ U" and his name on the bottom. "Squidward" He cried. "B- but..."

"Behind my smiles, I have been broken there... I could never tell... anyone... not even you... I've been suffering in the shadows, tentacles... we both are the same. I could never care less about Patrick... He never cared for me at all... I want you to understand that you have a purpose in your own life, not me Squid. So when I'm gone, be happy! Life is freedom for everyone"

"What about you?! You have a life! We all have! Why are you saying this to me now?!" Squidward hesitated. They both looked at the sunset about to reach almost the middle.

"I never care if I die or live... Let's enjoy the sunset Squiddy!" Spongebob wiped his tears. Squidward started to cry with his tears dripping. The tears won't stop in his eyes. They kept forming and forming all that he can see is the tears covering his vision, and his eyes are blurry.

"Look! it's almost time till dawn! Let's count to ten!"

They both started to count...

Ten...- Spongebob can I say something?

Nine...- Sure Squiddy! What is it?

Eight...- I wanted to tell you this but it's too late...

Seven...- What is it?

Six...- ...

Five...- ...

Four...- Squiddy?

Three...- I-

Two...- There's no time I-

One...- I Love You Spongebob...

"I love you too Squidward..."

By the time it hits zero. A loud explosion can be heard on Spongebob's side of the wall.

"S...Spongebob..."

"I'm Sorry..."
