Nicknames

Spongebob snuggled Squidward with an excited joy that rose upon his optimistic and bright mood "Squiddy!" The sponge shouted, calling out his nickname that stuck permanently into the fry cook's mind. Tho it was kind of fine for the poriferan to call him that, he wasn't quite sure if Squidward liked the idea of him calling that kind of nickname to him.

Squidward, who could not bare to handle Spongebob's open-hearted soul to touch his, has crossed the line into a simple action. Squidward hated it when Spongebob calls him that, he kept telling his co-worker to not call him that every time. But whenever he tried telling him not to.

This just makes him keep calling him other nicknames or pet names whenever he's out in public or working...

"Are you deaf as always? I told you to stop calling me that! I keep telling you that for the billionth time! Why don't you just get it?!" The cephalopod had popped his bubble severely. He doesn't have any control over his actions, especially over the Squarepants...

Spongebob went silent. When Squidward shoved away both of his arms, breaking the hug. He felt numb. After Squidward yelled, his words received permanently stuck in his mind. Which makes him feel nothing... more yet a little... hurt... sorrow... well... sad...

Sure Spongebob may have taken things too far by accident without even noticing by his perspective and enthusiastic point of view he tried his hardest to keep attention from others. The words Squidward had said to him stabbed his heart.

It's just words...

Harmful words...

There's no such big deal to just... cry about it...

Sure you heard how that person told you...

Sure it can hurt you physically...

Sure it can also hurt your feelings mentally...

And it can also reach your breaking point...

"Sorry..." Spongebob finally replied as he frowned trying to encourage himself deep inside with positivity battling the negative ones. He also even tried forcing himself to make a simple smile and act normal about it, but it failed.

Squidward never expected him to say it that way, the tone of the poriferan was deep and sad yet- felt bad for him. He wasn't sure if he ever listened to his negative comments to him that were complete opposites.

He added a sentence to explain it better to Squidward. "I just... it kind of feels boring to me when I keep repeating your actual name over and over... It was just... awkward... but umm..." Squidward looked at the sponge with open sight.

"But I'll try my best to stop calling you-" "DON'T!" Squidward said interrupting his phrase. He looked at SpongeBob with a warm feeling forming inside of his chest. Spongebob flinched when Squidward cuts him. Now he felt confused for a second there.

It was like a moment ago Squidward never even wanted to be called 'Squiddy' what gives? "Uh- I mean... don't... don't stop... calling me that... I-" he stuttered with his statement that came out of him "I... I kind of like it..." Squidward blushed harder and got angry a little. "Just- just DO NOT tell anybody and not even Patrick that I said that!" He tried to wipe his face trying not to feel embarrassed. Spongebob looked at him red.

Squidward looked at Spongebob who can see his visible blush. "Yay! Thank you so much, Squiddy!" Spongebob hugged Squidward tightly with his brightened mood, while Squidward screamed inside of himself regretting every word he said. Squidward looked at Spongebob awkwardly with his purple blush and his heart pounding seeing his face up close.

He pushed him away after a second he broke the hug. "Okay, that's enough! You'll get your dirt all over me...." Squidward brushed his shirt off looking the other way. Spongebob looked at him all happy and fine. "I promise I won't tell anyone! Pinky swear!" Squidward gazes his eyes upon his tiny hand with his pinky finger sticking out.

Squidward snickered sarcastically "I don't trust you enough" the cephalopod teased. "Aw... okay! I'll try not to bring it up then!" He finished his sentence with a kiss on his cheek. "I hope we get to talk more after the shift honey!" Spongebob went to the kitchen after smiling at him.

Squidward got caught off guard by the sponge who kissed his cheek that quickly. After he left the room Squidward sighed in relief with butterflies swarming around his stomach. stupid sponge...

Squidward looked at the magazine and back at himself with a realization.

WAIT HE CALLED ME 'HONEY'?!

And then he passed out after his heart busted out :)
