"DESTIER HAS ALWAYS SERVED ME WELL, YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS."
"Or hooves."
Caspian looked up from Lucy's joke. He knows the Valiant Queen just wanted to lighten up the thick and dark atmosphere, but he didn't feel any better. In fact, the joke she made only reminded him of his dear cousin more. He let out a weak smile, "Good luck."
"Thanks," Susan looked away from the Prince, too embarrassed that she was caught staring.
"Look," Caspian gulped, reaching for the Gentle Queen's horn by his belt, sighing, "Maybe it is time you had this back."
Susan tried to hold back a smile, looking back at him, "Why don't you hold on to it. You might need to call me again," she chuckled, having a brief eye contact with him before leaving. Caspian finally cracked a small smile, looking down in disbelief. If he wasn't mistaken, he could say that the Queen had grown quite fond of him.
"You might need to call me again?" Lucy teased.
"Oh, shut up!"
Peter and Edmund stopped talking as Caspian entered the room. The High King held his breath, worry in his face, "The girls?"
"Safe."
Peter sighed in relief. He bit his lip and ran his fingers through his blonde hair, a pang of guilt in his heart, "Listen...Caspian, about Kate, I'm sorry. I never really had a decent conversation with her, but she's like a sister to me just like how you are a brother. Both to me and Edmund."
Caspian let out a heavy breath, his eyes narrowing at the blonde king, "I just wish I was there to protect her. Susan was right, I am no better than Miraz. I wished her dead. It wasn't her fault my uncle killed my father."
"She's alright." Edmund suddenly spoke, causing the two to look at him. "I saw her. She's alright. I'm sure she forgave you, the both of you. And Peter, Kate's not a coward. She's one of the bravest girl I've ever known. She's a little sister to me too."
Hearing the princess was alright, Caspian and Peter felt like they could breathe again.
"Your majesties, it's...ready. The Telmarines are here." A centaur bowed his head, and Peter wore the last detail he needed for the full armor he had: the helmet. "We're getting her back," he promised Caspian, he promised his siblings, he promised the Narnians, and he promised himself.
