17: Let the Games Begin!

ALICE'S POV

The rebellion was underway. Yddrgi, Tukandu, Itris, and I had all been temporarily assigned to transport some of the lava containers because some of the transporter slaves had been killed by a sudden landslide in the cavern. Now created the perfect chance to start the rebellion. Jack had set up a plan to start the battle...and it was about to take effect.

Each of us was pushing our own cart up a steep hill,a nd other slaves were doing the same all around us. Bokkenrijders were riding their goats along the sides of the ramp, watching us and menacingly flicking their whips. Several more of the goat-riders sat off to the side at the bottom of the ramp, drinking beer and taking a break. They were our targets. I took a look at Tukandu, and the Boroma gave a nod. Tukandu gripped his cart, lifted it over his head, and tossed it down off of the side of the ramp.

The lava inside the cart spilled all over the Bokkenrijders who were taking their break at the bottom of the ramp. They cried out in pain, and most fell over, writhing in pain. Some tried to flee, but they keeled over as well and died. The goat riders on the ramp saw all of this, and 5 of them came at Tukandu and I. Yddrgi leaped in between them and us though, and the great troll swung a fist, knocking one rider off of his mount. The 4 others drew out straight swords and began to stab at Yddrgi. Yddrgi took several stabs, but he was a troll, and he barrelled forwards, knocking 3 of the riders off the side of the ramp. He grabbed the last rider by the head and flung him into the ground before stomping on him repeatedly. The goats bleated, and they flew away in terror.

"Slaves! Now is the time!" yelled Itris.

All around us, the various slaves threw or pushed their lava carts off of the sides of the ramp. By now, the Bokkenrijders had realized what was happening, and a low horn note blew out over the cavern, coupled with shouts of "Rebellion! At the eastern ramp!" All around the cavern, the Bokkenrijders started to mobilize and rush at us. Most were on foot, but several were flying their goats at the ramp.

"Here we go! Pick your blows carefully!" I yelled, and then the Bokkenrijders were nearly on us.

I was near the bottom of the ramp, right where the Bokkenrijders were coming up. They were all wearing just their simple fur and leather clothing, and they were carrying maces, spears, axes, and swords. Their triangular metal face masks gleamed, and their eyes shimmered with rage. Then they crashed into us. A huge warrior with an axe slammed into me and threw me back a few feet. I kicked out and my foot connected with his chest. He flew back into the crowd of guards, and then two more wielding spears were upon me. I ducked under a thrust and sent a spear of ghost energy through that warrior's chest. The remaining Bokkenrijder swung his weapon at my head, but I ducked under the attack and smashed a fist up into his chin.

I did a quick survey of the cavern. The slaves all around were rising up and fighting. All were fighting back, and the Bokkenrijders were falling back at an alarming rate. The slaves far outnumbered them, and now the goat riders were falling back. A couple more hired monsters had joined the fight, but they were dying just as quickly. What we had to do now was push our way forward, into the main factory where Herne, Azi Dahaka, and Watcher would be.

But where were the others?

"Itris, any trace of the others?" I asked.

"I don't think they've dropped in yet!" the djinn cried back as he swung a sandy fist into the side of a Bokkenrijder's head.

Just as Itris said that, there was a loud "YEE-HAH!" from above us and Jack came sailing down from the sky, landing on the head of a Bokkenrijder and slicing open the throat of a second one that was running at him. Piper was right behind him, dashign into the fight from the side. She shot an arrow into a goat's eye while Kevin dashed in from the other side and beheaded its rider with a swift tomahawk slash. There was a thunderous BANG! and five Bokkenrijders flew into the air from a sonic boom from Max. Last was...Kcaj...Gosh, he was so...GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF, ALICE!

Kcaj had run into the fight, and shadow bolts were lancing from his hands and impaling guards all around. A huge wolf, the Skinwalker from when we had first enetered the cavern, rushed at him with a roar. Kcaj lunged forwards and purple energy burst out from his hands, wrapping around the wolf. The wolf shook in pain, and it grew smaller...and smaller. Its legs receded back, and its gray fur turned to brown. Its tail grew longer, and its snout fell back...until finally, the slavering wolf had turned into a chattering monkey.

And then it hit me. I was in love. With a clone. A clone of Jack.

"Alice, how are you holding up? Are you okay?" Kcaj asked me, walking over to me.

"I'ts all good with me...You?" I asked.

Amidst the screams of pain, cries of fear, and people generally making a huge ruckus, Kcaj grasped my hands in his and with a wide grin he said, "I'm doing fine." And then we kissed. Yes, we started kissing in the middle of a battlefield. And it was absolutely wonderful.

"Couldn't you guys save that for later?" I heard Tukandu ask.

Kcaj and I separated quickly. Aroudn us, the fight was dying down. The Bokkenrijders had started to realize that they were beaten, and they were mounting their goats and flying away to the main factory, probably to protect their leaders. Tukanda was carrying a Bokkenrijder in each hand, and he bashed their heads together quickly before dropping the bodies and bellowing orders to the slaves.

"Alright, this is it.  The final attack. We're going to go all out on the main factory. They can't stop us, as they're outnumbered at about a 7 to 1 ratio, and they're already scared enough of us. We're going to fight in front of the factory, and stall for time to allow the demigods and Princess Alice to get inside the factory and take down their leaders. Once we do, it will all be over. Good luck. Now let's go!" Tukandu cried.

All fo the slaves around us gave a cheer, as did we. It was nearly over.
