ALICE'S POV

Azi Dahaka had begun to wear down. Five of his eight snakes had been killed, due to my blasts of energy and Kevin's expert axe-wielding. Acid energy swirled around the snake demon's left hand, and in his right he gripped the dagger that he had created. Kevin and I were extremely tried as well though. I had been blasted by acid on my left arm, and even though it hadn't bruned through me, I was in a whole lot of pain. Kevin's leg that had been nicked by the dagger had started to go a nasty shade of green-brown.

"I can see that you're tiring, children. Let me help you go to sleep...forever," said Azi Dahaka, whirling his dagger and giving a menacing chuckle.

He leaped at me, and I floated up into the air, raining blasts of energy down upon him. He cried out in pain, and while the blasts didn't hurt him that much, they kept his snakes too busy dodging them to spit at me or Kevin. I saw Kevin jump at the snake demon's head, and Azi Dahaka just barely moved in time to avoid the strike. Suddenly, Kevin raised a hand, and the floor's earth and stoen rose up, crashing aroudn Azi Dahaka's legs and pinning him to the floor.

I sunk down to the ground and rushed head-on at the trapped Azi Dahaka. His snakes shot at me, trying to keep me away from him. I flung a blast of ghost energy at the first, smashing its head into little bits. THe second lunged at my face, and I sliced its head off with a second wave of ghost energy. The third lunged at my stomach, and I leaped back, chopping it in half with a third cutting blast of energy.

Kevin darted around me and the snakes, and everything seemed to move in slow motion as he flung himself at the snake demon's head. He raised his tomahawk high, and he sent it sweeping down, cutting in an arc right through Azi Dahaka's chest. Azi Dahaka choked as black blood flew from his wound. He collapsed onto the floor and twitched for a few second before falling still...just like a dying snake.

KCAJ'S POV

Herne rode at Piper with a terrible roar, swinging his sword at her head. Piper dived to the side and came up in a roll, firing an arrow at the Hunter's neck. Herne flung his blade up and blocked the missile before racing around and attacking me. I dipped under his strike and flung an air blast off at his horse. The air blast slammed into the poor beast, and it collapsed with a loud neigh. Herne leaped off of it and slammed his blade into the ground. The horse disappated into black atoms and Herne gave a snarl.

"Alright, this needs to end. NOW!" he yelled, rushing at us.

He hacked down at Piper's head, and she rolled to the side and avoided the attack. I launched a shadow blast at Herne that hit him in the side. He staggered, and Piper ran in and kicked him in the chest. He fell back a few steps, and I jumped next to him, whirling around and slamming a fist into his back. Herne roared in pain and waved his blade around in a wide arc, cleaving the air above us. Piper popped up, but he crashed an armored fist into her face and she staggered back, tears of pain welling up into her eyes.

"Piper, get down!" I yelled, firing a sonic blast at Herne.

The blast caught Herne full in the face, and he flew back into the air, crashing down near Piper. Both of them got to their feet at the same time, but Herne was quicker, and he kneed Piper in the gut before launching a slash that missed at her shoulder. Piper got back and fired an arrow into the joint where his left arm connected to his shoulder. Herne gasped in pain and staggered a bit.

"My arm!" Herne yelled in rage before ripping the arrow out.

I took this chance to shoot in and launch an air blast at his face. He raised his injured arm up, and it blocked the blast. He swung out with his blade, and it cut into my side. I yelled in pain, but the wound wasn't that deep. Blood began to leak from my injury, and Herne advanced on me, laughing. Suddenly, a vine coiled around his chest. Then another lashed across his stomach, and a third went across his arm. More and more vines were wrapping around him.

Piper held out her hand, still streaming vines at Herne. Herne struggled against them, but eventually the vines had him bound. Piper clenched her hand into a fist, and the ends of the vines grew sharp and plunged into Herne. They dove through his armor, slashed into his furs that he was wearing, and they stuck him full of needles.

"AAAAARGH!!!" yelled the Huntsman.

And then the vines burst outward, stabbing out of his body so that he looked like a porcupine. Herne couldn't even scream. Then the vines receded, going back into Piper's hand. Herne crumpled, his yellow eyes still glowing in his agonizing final moments.

MAX'S POV

"Now you see the way this had to be! Are you ready to give up, Watcher?" I asked him as Jack, Watcher, and I watched Herne and Azi Dahaka fall.

"I...I..." Watcher choked out.

Tears welled up into his eyes and he dropped his spear and his shield. He dashed over to Herne's fallen figure. He took off his helmet, crouched over Herne, and grabbed the Hunter's hand. All of the team gathered around to see what was happening.

"Watcher...I'm sorry," Herne chocked out as he looked up at the sad boy in Greek armor who stared down at him.

"Herne, what should I do?" Watcher asked, tears flowing freely from his eyes now.

"I...I did the wrong thing. I shouldn't have tried to go against the gods...I led you astray, boy. You...you should join them. Go to the Syndicate...be with them...maybe you can even see your father again," Herne said.

Herne shuddered, and I knew that he had to be near death.

"You want me to...to join them?" Watcher asked.

"Yes...Head to the Syndicate...I'll be back...and maybe...maybe I can...see you...again...Watcher..." Herne said.

The yellow glow is Herne's eyes dimmed away to black, and his helmeted head fell to the side. His gloved hand slid out of Watcher's. He exploded into black atoms that slowly faded away. Watcher wiped away his tears. Jack helped him up and gave him a pat on the back.

"There, there, kid. He'll be back. You know as well as I do that mythological figures can't die forever! Now come on. We'll get you to the Syndicate once we've freed these slaves," Jack said.

Watcher nodded. He picked up his spear and his shield, and he doned his helmet once again. And now, with a new friend by our side, we all headed out of the factory to a brand-new day, and thousands of welcoming friends waiting to hear the good news.
