The next day, Ethan arrived at the firm looking happier than yesterday and it made everyone uncomfortable. ‘Does he not care about what we say about him?’ a lawyer whispered as Ethan passed by.

Ethan ignored him and went to see Mr. Olayinka in his office. “You look happier” Mr. Olayinka noted.

“Yeah, well, something good happened so…” Ethan said with a gleeful grin.

“Then that means you don’t care about what everyone is saying about you?” Mr. Olayinka asked suspiciously. “I heard some lawyers talking about wanting you out but Sienna seemed to have given them a lecture.”

Ethan’s smile dimmed. “Well, that hurts.”

“That won't happen, you are doing quite well in the firm” Mr. Olayinka encouraged. “just keep on what you are doing, the lawyers will come around.”

“Okay, thank you sir” Ethan said and turned around to leave.

“And Ethan?”

“Yes?”

“Don’t think I am blind, I can see what is happeing between you and Sienna,” Ethan looked at Mr. Olayinka in surprise. “You can relax, you two are doing well. You deserve each other.”

“Thank you sir” Ethan smiled and left.

Ethan returned to the main halls of the offices and saw Sienna in her office talking to a client. He grinned and slowly passed by the office and Sienna looked at him. She scowled playfully and Ethan just responded with a kissy face and a bright lovesick smile.

“Ethan! Ethan!” Rotimi called, he and Ahmed suddenly rushing in and holding Ethan’s hands. Ethan looked at them alarmed.

“What is the matter?” he asked concerned.

“Come here, come here” Ahmed said and the two men dragged Ethan away. Sienna watched them leave curiously but had to pay attention to her client.

In a tight empty corner in the office, Ahmed and Rotimi dragged Ethan there and Ethan saw Amaechi. “Can someone tell me what is happening” Ethan asked confused, “why are you here Amaechi?”

“Ethan, listen” Amaechi said and he looked at the two men. They nodded in some sort of silent agreement.

“We are sorry” the three of them chorused in front of a very surprised Ethan.

“What?”

“I’m really sorry for everyone finding out. Mrs. Jane and I were just so shocked that we didn’t think about how it would affect you when everyone found out” Rotimi apologised sincerely.

“It's okay, it's not like it isn't true” Ethan said nonchalantly with a shrug. “but honestly, that was in my past. I regret every moment of then.”

“It’s alright and I hope you forgive us too” Ahmed said, “you are still our friend and we abandoned you like that. I am really ashamed.”

“Like I said, it is alright” Ethan said with a soft smile. “thanks for apologising.”

“That is a relief” Amaechi sighed relieved. “the whole office was stunned when Attorney Sienna brutally called us out on our gossiping.”

Ethan looked interested and Amaechi continued. “She defended you well but then, Tiwa,” He groaned, “she said something bad, like ‘of course you would take the criminal side’.”
