"Will you stop starring! Your gonna scare the poor guy!" Amelia had never wanted to come, but considering she was the smartest person in her school, she was ahead to graduate. When her parents found out they were beyond proud at the accomplishment their daughter has made. Not having to take any more classes since she in fact was ahead everyone in her senior class, she only spent the first half of her morning at school, and the rest with her brother Sam Uley.

Mia was thirteen when she found her adoption papers. Of course she always knew she looked nothing liked her parents or her sister, they were all pale, while she had tanned skin, they all had brown hair, while she had her black hair. But she never gave it much thought and simply figured there was probably a distant relative on her family tree where she inherited her looks from. However that wasn't the case, Mia's parents divorced when she was two and when her sister was three, the two always spent their summers at their dads while they spent their school year with their mom. Mia was always a daddy's little girl, and as her sister stopped coming less with her, she began to come more. She would visit only during the summer but also every break she had off.

Until finally she sat her mom down when she was twelve and told her she wanted to go live with her dad. Her mom was saddened at the idea, but knew Mia loved Charlie so much that this was bound to happen. When her dad found out, he was over the moon, and immediately began to fix up her old room to her liking.

Mia loved her dad with every being she had in her, he would take her out to watch baseball games, to go see her favorite movies, to go shopping for her first day of school outfit. He was her best friend. Her dad only had a few friends, and most of them lived on the reservation. For Mia she spent everyday of her life growing up on the reservation.

Mia had school off one day, and her dad being the new sheriff had to work longer than usual. Of course not wanting his youngest daughter to be home alone, he dropped her off at Billy Black's home. She remembered sitting on Rachel's lap while the eldest black sister drove her and Jacob to the pow wow.

Mia had never been to a pow wow before, but when she heard the sound of the drums as they pulled up. Her heart began to try and match the beat. Her and Jacob ran around to the different vendors. There was something about being surrounded by the Native culture that sparked something within her.

Upon her arrival at home, she began to look through her fathers things, thinking she would find information about their family bloodline. But what Mia found, was something she wasn't at all prepared for. When her dad came home from work that evening he was surpised to find the papers in her hand. They were her adoption papers. Mia was far from upset, in fact she sort of felt relieved.

Immediately he called up her mom and the two explained everything to their daughter.

They told her that she had been in the car with her mom, it had rained for the first time in a while causing the roads to be slick. Her mom had made a sharp turn, and did not see the pickup truck making the right hand turn.

Her Mom didn't make it that night, Charlie was the deputy on duty and when he saw a paramedic holding an infant girl, he knew she would just be put into the system and lost forever. He didn't want that for her, he searched for family but the vehicle had been registered under a different name, at the time Allison Kole. He searched for everything he could find in the system for Allison Kole but was led to dead ends. He also couldn't find any information on her father. So he and Renee had made the decision to adopt Mia.

Mia didn't know what to say, but a part of her felt like she needed to find out who she is. She had asked her father with help with finding her biological family and practically begged her parents not to say a word to Bella.

Months had went by of investigating until finally Charlie had finally found a name, Uley. Charlie had went back to the crime unit and searched through all the things that had been pulled from the wreckage. And when he found Mia's old car seat with the last name Uley engraved on the back he felt hope for his daughter.
